Electron paramagnetic resonance and photoluminescence study on local structure of Gd ions in Gd-doped CaF crystals.

RSC Adv

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructure, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai 201899 China.

Employing electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and excitation and photoluminescence (PL) spectra, changes of the local structure of Gd ions were investigated for the CaF crystals containing 0.00015, 0.17, 1.

Achieving dual functionalities of hydrophobicity and excellent microwave transmission in a single material remains a significant challenge, especially for advanced applications in aerospace, telecommunications, and navigation engineering. Inspired by natural designs like chestnut burrs, bioinspired polyaniline (PANI) particles with tunable micro-/nanostructures through a facile template-free polymerization process have been developed. By regulating the polarity of the reaction system, temperature, and reaction time, various hierarchical structures, including cross-linked nanosheets, chestnut burr-like spheres, and starburst flower-like structures, are synthesized.

Ofloxacin, a commonly prescribed antibiotic, raises serious environmental concerns due to its persistence in aquatic systems. This study offers new insights into the environmental behavior of ofloxacin and its interactions with carbon-based adsorbents with the aim of enhancing our understanding of its removal mechanisms via adsorption processes. Using a comprehensive computational approach, we analyzed the speciation, pK values, and solubility of ofloxacin across various pH conditions, accounting for all four microspecies, including the often-overlooked neutral form.

In this work, a theoretical approach is developed to investigate the structural properties of ionic microgels induced by a circularly polarized (CP) electric field. Following a similar study on chain formation in the presence of linearly polarized fields [T. Colla , , 2018, , 4321-4337], we propose an effective potential between microgels which incorporates the field-induced interactions a static, time averaged polarizing charge at the particle surface.

Targeted Docking of Localized Hydrogen Bond for Efficient and Reversible Zinc-Ion Batteries.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

Central South University, material science and engineering, 932 Lushan Road, 410083, Changsha, CHINA.

Hydrogen bond (HB) chemistry, a pivotal feature of aqueous zinc-ion batteries, modulates electrochemical processes through weak electrostatic interactions among water molecules. However, significant challenges persist, including sluggish desolvation kinetics and inescapable parasitic reactions at the electrolyte-electrode interface, associated with high water activity and strong Zn2+-solvent coordination. Herein, a targeted localized HB docking mechanism is activated by the polyhydroxy hexitol-based electrolyte, optimizing Zn2+ solvation structures via dipole interaction and reconstructing interfacial HB networks through preferential parallel adsorption.
