Drought is one of the most detrimental natural calamities to the economy. Despite its significant consequences, the evolution from meteorological to agricultural and hydrological droughts still needs to be explored. A thorough investigation was carried out in India's eastern hills and plateau region to determine the extent of drought's impact through indices.

The digital back-propagation (DBP) is an algorithm that can equalize the chromatic dispersion and nonlinearity in the coherent optical fiber communication system. However, the nonlinear equalization effect of traditional split-step Fourier method (SSFM)-based DBP is limited. This paper replaces the SSFM in DBP algorithm with the fourth-order Runge-Kutta in the interaction picture (RK4IP) method, and employs the Bayesian optimization algorithm (BOA) to optimize the coefficients in RK4IP-based DBP algorithm, then compares it with SSFM-based DBP algorithm, which is also optimized using BOA.

Partially coherent beams are renowned for their inherent resilience against environmental perturbations. However, traditional versions are prone to distortion due to light diffraction, which presents significant challenges for related applications such as information transfer. In this paper, we theoretically and experimentally construct a non-diffraction, partially coherent Pearcey beam.

Scintillation restricts the development of free space optical communication in near-space hypersonic vehicles. We derived analytical formulae for the on-axis scintillation index of a partially coherent flat-topped beam in a bidirectional turbulent atmosphere and plasma link based on the Collins formula. The numerical results indicate that over long-distance propagation ranges, the on-axis scintillation index of a partially coherent flat-topped beam in bidirectional transmission is smaller than that of a Gaussian Schell model beam under the same conditions.

We report on the design of an all-mirror wavefront-division interferometer capable of spectroscopic studies across multiple spectral ranges-from the plasma frequencies of metals to terahertz wavelengths and beyond. The proposed method leverages the properties of laser sources with high spatial coherence. A theoretical framework for the interferometer scheme is presented, along with an analytical solution for determining the far-field interference pattern, which is validated through both optical propagation simulations and experimental results.
