A method to determine electron temperature within a plasma by the spectral analysis of atomic tungsten emission has been explored. The technique was applied to a post-discharge region immediately following a high voltage nanosecond pulsed discharge in air with tungsten electrodes. Atomic tungsten lines are readily observed in the weak emission spectrum within the post-discharge region for many microseconds.

We probe the stability of water clusters by means of their metastable decay probability extracted from two-dimensional reflectron time-of-flight mass spectra. Two different methods are used to ionize and potentially excite the clusters and trigger the evaporation: (i) attachment of electrons with near-zero energies, producing negatively charged clusters, and (ii) electron impact ionization, producing protonated (HO)H clusters. The electron attachment is a soft ionization and therefore provides information about the size distribution of the neutral clusters in the beam due to a very limited amount of post-ionization loss of water molecules.

Synthetic dyes produced by the textile dyeing industry and released into wastewater contribute significantly to water pollution. This study explores the efficacy and versatility of a novel multi-electrode dielectric barrier discharge (MEDBD) plasma system that mainly generates ozone (O generator) and nitric oxide (NO generator) selectively to degrade various synthetic textile dyes, namely Methylene Blue (MB), Congo Red (CR), Methyl Orange (MO), Crystal Violet (CV), and Evans Blue (EB). Plasma achieved selective enrichment of O and NO by utilizing optimized plasma generation duty cycles of 15% and 100%, respectively.

Experimental rate coefficients for the quenching of vibrational levels 0 and 1 of the N2+A2Πu state by N2 are presented. The experiments were performed using near-infrared observations of the N2+ Meinel bands excited by electron impact at several pressures of the N2 target/quenching gas. The total removal rate coefficients were derived from a Stern-Volmer analysis of the Meinel band intensities as a function of N2 density and yielded rate coefficients of (2.

We present here a theoretical study of a new molecular ion species BeN, which has not been reported before. Using a good quality configuration interaction model, we first undertake a configuration interaction calculation of the molecular states to obtain the potential energy curves of several low lying states of BeN and the dipole and transition dipole moments of some of its states as a function of the internuclear distance. We find the ground state to be bound and of X Σ character having a shallow minimum at = 2.
