Background: Fogging of protective eyewear (PEW) can hinder routine work in the intensive care unit (ICU). The prevalence of fogging impairing vision (FIV) and the technique that reduces fogging have not been evaluated previously.
Methods: After donning personal protective equipment (PPE) with an N95 mask, the healthcare workers (HCWs) sequentially tried plain PEW, soap-coated PEW, PEW worn at a distance over the PPE hood, and the use of tape over a mask.

Background: Post-traumatic headache (PTH) is a commonly experienced symptom after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). Blast injury- or blunt injury-related mechanisms for mTBI in veterans can also affect musculoskeletal structures in the neck, resulting in comorbid neck pain (NP). However, it is unknown whether the presence of comorbid NP may be associated with a different pattern of headache symptoms, physical functioning, or emotional functioning compared to those without comorbid NP.

Core-shell silver nanoparticles (NPs) consisting of an inner Ag core and successive layers of Au and Ag (Ag@Au@Ag) were used to measure the simultaneous association of Ag NPs and ionic Ag by the green alga . Dissolution of the inner Ag core was prevented by a gold (Au) layer, while the outer Ag layer was free to dissolve. In short-term experiments, we exposed to a range of environmentally realistic Ag concentrations added as AgNO or as NPs.

X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR) were combined to study the structural transformations induced by temperature, pressure and air humidity of the "breathing" metal-organic framework (MOF) MIL-53(Al), doped with paramagnetic V ions, after activation. The correlation between in situ XRD and thermogravimetric analysis measurements showed that upon heating this MOF in air, starting from ambient temperature and pressure, the narrow pore framework first dehydrates and after that makes the transition to a large pore state (lp). The EPR spectra of V[double bond, length as m-dash]O molecular ions, replacing Al-OH in the structure, also allow to distinguish the as synthesized, hydrated (np-h) and dehydrated narrow pore (np-d), and lp states of MIL-53(Al).

We measure the center-of-mass diffusion of silica nanoparticles (NPs) in entangled poly(2-vinylpyridine) (P2VP) melts using Rutherford backscattering spectrometry. While these NPs are well within the size regime where enhanced, nonhydrodynamic NP transport is theoretically predicted and has been observed experimentally (2/ ≈ 3, where 2 is the NP diameter and is the tube diameter), we find that the diffusion of these NPs in P2VP is in fact well-described by the hydrodynamic Stokes-Einstein relation. The effective NP diameter 2 is significantly larger than 2 and strongly dependent on P2VP molecular weight, consistent with the presence of a bound polymer layer on the NP surface with thickness ≈ 1.
