Internal Nanocavity Regulation of Embedded Rare Earth Up-Conversion Nanoparticles for HO Production Operable at Up to 780 nm.

Semiconductor photocatalysts embedded with rare earth upconversion nanoparticles (REUPs) are a promising strategy to improve their photoresponse range, but their photocatalytic performance within the near-infrared (NIR) region is far from satisfactory. Here, a method is reported to improve the photocatalytic activity by adjusting the nanocavity of upconversion nanoparticles inside a semiconductor. Two types of CdS embedded with NaYF:Yb,Er photocatalysts with core-shell structure (no cavity) (NYE/CdS) and yolk-shell structure (empty cavity) (NYE@CdS) are synthesized by different methods.

Bacterial ghosts (BGs), non-living empty envelopes of bacteria, are produced either through genetic engineering or chemical treatment of bacteria, retaining the shape of their parent cells. BGs are considered vaccine candidates, promising delivery systems, and vaccine adjuvants. The practical use of BGs in vaccine development for humans is limited because of concerns about the preservation of viable bacteria in BGs.

One-Pot Synthesis and Enhanced Vis-NIR Photocatalytic Activity of NiTiO/TiO Templated by Waste Tobacco Stem-Silks.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

January 2025

School of Chemical Sciences & Technology, School of Materials and Energy, Yunnan Provincial Center of Technology Innovation for New Materials and Equipment in Water Pollution Control, Institute of International Rivers and Eco-Security, Yunnan Province Engineering Research Center of Photocatalytic Treatment of Industrial Wastewater, Yunnan University, Kunming 650091, China.

Synthesis of the photocatalysts with near-infrared light response usually involves upconversion materials or plasmon-assisted noble metals. Herein, NiTiO/TiO was synthesized by using waste tobacco stem-silks as biotemplates and tetra-tert-butyl orthotitanate and nickel nitrate as precursors in a one-pot procedure. NiTiO(1.

Ultrathin 2D Cu-Porphyrin MOF Nanosheet Loaded FeO Nanoparticles As a Multifunctional Nanoplatform for Synergetic Chemodynamic and Photodynamic Therapy Independent of O.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

College of Chemistry and Materials Science, Shanghai Frontiers Science Center of Biomimetic Catalysis, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai 200234, China.

In this study, we developed a multifunctional nanoplatform to address the limitations of strictly acidic pH for the Fenton reaction involving FeO and the low efficiency of mono treatments. The hybrid material, FeO@Cu-TCPP, was assembled through hydrophobic interactions of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) coated on its surface. The efficiency of the Fenton reaction using FeO was significantly enhanced by the photo-Fenton process in the presence of Cu-TCPP.
