Spermatogenesis is one of the most complex processes of cell differentiation and its failure is a major cause of male infertility. Therefore, a proper model that recapitulates spermatogenesis in vitro has been long sought out for basic and clinical research. Testis organ culture using the gas-liquid interphase method has been shown to support spermatogenesis in mice and rats.

Fabrication of 3D printed hollow spheres for quality control and feasibility for use with xSPECT bone.

Phys Eng Sci Med

December 2024

Department of Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, Gosford Hospital, Building K3, Gosford, NSW, Australia.

Quantitative accuracy and constancy of Siemens xSPECT Bone quantitative reconstruction algorithm (xBone) can be monitored using activity-filled hollow spheres, which could be 3D printed (3DP) to increase accessibility to phantoms. One concern is that 3D prints can have air gaps in the walls which may pose issues for attenuation correction and xBone tissue zone mapping. This study assessed the feasibility of using 3DP spheres (3DP-S) with materials PLA, PETG and Resin as substitutes for commercial hollow spheres (C-S).

Optimizing demand response and load balancing in smart EV charging networks using AI integrated blockchain framework.

Sci Rep

December 2024

Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering and Diagnostics of Electrical Equipment, Institute of Electrodynamics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Beresteyskiy, 56, Kyiv-57, 03680, Kyiv, Ukraine.

The integration of Electric Vehicles (EVs) into power grids introduces several critical challenges, such as limited scalability, inefficiencies in real-time demand management, and significant data privacy and security vulnerabilities within centralized architectures. Furthermore, the increasing demand for decentralized systems necessitates robust solutions to handle the growing volume of EVs while ensuring grid stability and optimizing energy utilization. To address these challenges, this paper presents the Demand Response and Load Balancing using Artificial intelligence (DR-LB-AI) framework.

This study proposes a novel, highly sensitive neutron detector design utilizing a unique multi-layered configuration. Each layer consists of a LiF: ZnS(Ag) scintillator coupled with a transparent neutron moderator that also functions as a light guide for the Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) light sensor. This design offers a cost-effective and readily available alternative for existing neutron detectors.
