Magnetoelectric (ME) devices combining piezoelectric and magnetostrictive materials have emerged as powerful tools to miniaturize and enhance sensing and communication technologies. This paper examines recent developments in bulk acoustic wave (BAW) and surface acoustic wave (SAW) ME devices, which demonstrate unique capabilities in ultra-sensitive magnetic sensing, compact antennas, and quantum applications. Leveraging the mechanical resonance of BAW and SAW modes, ME sensors achieve the femto- to pico-Tesla sensitivity ideal for biomedical applications, while ME antennas, operating at acoustic resonance, allow significant size reduction, with high radiation gain and efficiency, which is suited for bandwidth-restricted applications.

Research on the interfacial instability of two-phase systems can help in gaining a better understanding of various hydrodynamic instabilities in nature. However, owing to the nonlinear and complex spatiotemporal dynamics of the unstable interface, the instability is challenging to control and suppress. This paper presents a novel interfacial instability of the magnetic microswarm induced by the competition between the destabilizing effect of magnetic field and the stabilizing effect of acoustic field.

Objectives: Although magnetically induced hyperthermia has shown great efficiency in the treatment of solid tumors, it is still a challenge to avoid incomplete ablation or overtreatment. In this study, we applied magnetomotive ultrasound shear wave elastography (MMUS-SWE) as a tool for real-time image guidance and feedback in the magnetic hyperthermia (MH) process. We called this new method as magneto-acoustic theranostic approach (MATA).

Hypersynchronous (HYP) seizure onset is one of the frequently observed seizure-onset patterns in temporal lobe epileptic animals and patients, often accompanied by hippocampal sclerosis. However, the exact mechanisms and ion dynamics of the transition to HYP seizures remain unclear. Transcranial magneto-acoustic stimulation (TMAS) has recently been proposed as a novel non-invasive brain therapy method to modulate neurological disorders.

Measuring cellular and tissue mechanics inside intact living organisms is essential for interrogating the roles of force in physiological and disease processes. Current agents for studying the mechanobiology of intact, living organisms are limited by poor light penetration and material stability. Magnetomotive ultrasound is an emerging modality for real-time in vivo imaging of tissue mechanics.
