Background: Upper limb fractures significantly alter movement, impacting function and recovery. Three-dimensional motion analysis allows precise assessment of these changes.

Methods: Sixty patients were divided into four groups: shoulder, elbow, wrist fractures, and controls.

Saturn's rings have been estimated to be as young as about 100 to 400 million years old according to the hypothesis that non-icy micrometeoroid bombardment acts to darken the rings over time and the Cassini observation indicated that the ring particles appear to be relatively clean. These young age estimates assume that the rings formed out of pure water ice particles with a high accretion efficiency of impacting non-icy micrometeoroid material ( ≳ 10%). Here we show, using numerical simulations of hypervelocity micrometeoroid impacts on a ring particle, that non-icy material may not be as readily accreted as previously thought.

Kinetic and Theoretical Studies of 3,5-Dicyanothiophene Reactivity with Cyclic Secondary Amines in Water and Acetonitrile: Quantification, Correlation, and Prediction.

J Phys Chem A

January 2025

Laboratoire de Chimie Hétérocyclique, Produits Naturels et Réactivité (LR11SE39), Faculté des Sciences de Monastir, Université de Monastir, Avenue de l'Environnement, Monastir 5019, Tunisie.

The kinetics of the σ-complexation reactions of 3,5-dicyanothiophene with a series of cyclic secondary amines - has been studied in water and acetonitrile at 20 °C. Through the linear free energy relationship (LFER) log = s ( + ), the electrophilicity parameter of 3,5-dicyanothiophene has been determined and then integrated into the electrophilicity scale established by Mayr. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have been employed to elucidate the reversal in reactivity order between piperidine and pyrrolidine observed in water.

Two-Dimensional Tantalum Carbo-Selenide for Hydrogen Evolution.

ACS Nano

January 2025

Department of Physics and Engineering Physics, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana 70118, United States.

Herein, we report the synthesis of two-dimensional TaSeC (2D-TaSeC) nanosheets using electrochemical lithiation in multilayer TaSeC followed by sonication in deionized water. Multilayer TaSeC was obtained via solid-state synthesis of FeTaSeC followed by chemical etching of Fe. 2D-TaSeC exhibited promising electrocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction from water compared to multilayer TaSeC and 2D-TaSe.

Psychological effects of psychedelics in adolescents.

Front Child Adolesc Psychiatry

June 2024

Centre for Psychedelic Research, Department of Brain Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London, London, United Kingdom.

This study aimed to investigate differences in long-term psychological effects, acute subjective effects, and side effects associated with psychedelic use in adolescents (aged 16-24), compared with adults (aged 25+). Data from two observational online survey cohorts was pooled, involving adolescents (average age 20.4 ± 2.
