Since the initial publication on the first TiCT MXene in 2011, there has been a significant increase in the number of reports on applications of MXenes in various domains. MXenes have emerged as highly promising materials for various biomedical applications, including photothermal therapy (PTT), drug delivery, diagnostic imaging, and biosensing, owing to their fascinating conductivity, mechanical strength, biocompatibility and hydrophilicity. Through surface modification, MXenes can mitigate cytotoxicity, enhance biological stability, and improve histocompatibility, thereby enabling their potential use in biomedical applications.

This research mainly explores the structural, magnetic, magneto-transport, and magnetocaloric properties of the polycrystalline TbSrMnO compound. The results reveal a significant modification of the compound's ground state with increasing the strength of the magnetic field. The strong distortion in the crystal structure highly controls the magnetic and magneto-transport properties of the system.

The unique anisotropic electron-photon and electron-phonon interactions of black phosphorus (BP) set it apart from other isotropic 2D materials. These anisotropic properties can be adjusted by varying the stacking thickness and sequence as well as by applying external pressure and strain. In contrast to multilayer or bulk BP, the effects of pressure on bilayer BP are still not fully elucidated.

Enhancement of NIR-II Emission of Er by Doping Fe in Double Perovskites: Multimode Luminescence for Versatile Optoelectronic Applications.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Rare Earth Resource Utilization, Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun, Jilin, 130022, P. R. China.

Erbium ions are commonly used to extend the photoelectric properties of metal halide perovskites from visible to near-infrared range. However, achieving high-efficiency multimode luminescence in a single system is difficult due to the weak absorption associated with forbidden 4f-4f transitions. In this study, a unique strategy is proposed to adjust multimode luminescence and enhance the second near-infrared region (NIR-II) emission in CsNaBiCl by incorporating Fe ions.

Damage Mechanisms in Polyalkenes Irradiated with Ultrashort XUV/X-Ray Laser Pulses.

September 2024

Institute of Physics, Czech Academy of Sciences, Na Slovance 1999/2, Prague 8 182 00, Czech Republic.

Although polymers are widely used in laser-irradiation research, their microscopic response to high-intensity ultrafast XUV and X-ray irradiation is still largely unknown. Here, we comparatively study a homologous series of alkenes. The XTANT-3 hybrid simulation toolkit is used to determine their damage kinetics and irradiation threshold doses.
