Stochasticity plays a central role in nearly every biological process, and the noise power spectral density (PSD) is a critical tool for understanding variability and information processing in living systems. In steady-state, many such processes can be described by stochastic linear time-invariant (LTI) systems driven by Gaussian white noise, whose PSD is a complex rational function of the frequency that can be concisely expressed in terms of their Jacobian, dispersion, and diffusion matrices, fully defining the statistical properties of the system's dynamics at steady-state. Here, we arrive at compact element-wise solutions of the rational function coefficients for the auto- and cross-spectrum that enable the explicit analytical computation of the PSD in dimensions n=2,3,4.

An Axiomatic Characterization of Mutual Information.

Entropy (Basel)

April 2023

School of Mathematical Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200240, China.

We characterize mutual information as the unique map on ordered pairs of discrete random variables satisfying a set of axioms similar to those of Faddeev's characterization of the Shannon entropy. There is a new axiom in our characterization, however, which has no analog for Shannon entropy, based on the notion of a , which may be thought of as a composition of communication channels for which conditional entropy acts functorially. Our proofs are coordinate-free in the sense that no logarithms appear in our calculations.

A window on infrared QCD with small expansion parameters.

Lattice simulations of the QCD correlation functions in the Landau gauge have established two remarkable facts. First, the coupling constant in the gauge sector-defined, e.g.

The content of this paper provides simulation data of the distribution of temperature fields, and oxidizer/cooling agent (air) flows in dependence with location of the oxidizer/cooling supply system in open-cathode polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) stack. The finite element method in Solid Works Simulation and Solid Works Flow Simulation software were used for bipolar plate strength calculation and thermo-fluid simulation of PEMFC stack with forced-air convection. The simulations were carried out for two variants of the oxidizer/cooling supply system location - at the entrance to the fuel cell stack (air injection) and at the outlet of the fuel cell stack (air intake).

In this paper, we study the relativistic effects in a three-body bound state. For this purpose, the relativistic form of the Faddeev equations is solved in momentum space as a function of the Jacobi momentum vectors without using a partial wave decomposition. The inputs for the three-dimensional Faddeev integral equation are the off-shell boost two-body t-matrices, which are calculated directly from the boost two-body interactions by solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation.
