This study systematically assessed the performance of a newly developed solid-phase extraction (SPE) material, cellulose-supported aminated β-cyclodextrin polymer (amine-β-CDP@Cellulose), in determining 44 xenobiotics, encompassing endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), pharmaceuticals, and food additives in urine samples. The primary objective of the research was to synthesize a new sorbent, optimize the extraction protocol, and elucidate the underlying adsorption and desorption mechanisms. Following optimization, it was observed that amine-β-CDP@Cellulose achieved recoveries ranging from 80 % to 120 % for 28 of the 44 targeted xenobiotics, with only three compounds showing recoveries below 50 %.

The cytoskeleton is a crucial determinant of mammalian cell structure and function, providing mechanical resilience, supporting the cell membrane and orchestrating essential processes such as cell division and motility. Because of its fundamental role in living cells, developing a reconstituted or artificial cytoskeleton is of major interest. Here we present an approach to construct an artificial cytoskeleton that imparts mechanical support and regulates membrane dynamics.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are small, positively charged biomolecules produced by various organisms such as animals, microbes, and plants. These AMPs play a significant role in defense mechanisms and protect from adverse conditions. The emerging problem of drug resistance in microbes poses a global health challenge in treating diseases.

Pigment particles used in tattooing may exert long terms effect by releasing diffusible degradation products. In the present work, aqueous suspensions of the organic orange diazo pigment PO13 were aged by exposure to simulated sunlight at 40 °C. The morphology and the surface charge of PO13 particles were barely modified upon aging, but primary particles were released by de-agglomeration.

The pressing necessity to mitigate climate change and decrease greenhouse gas emissions has driven the advancement of heterostructure-based photocatalysts for effective CO₂ reduction. This study introduces a novel heterojunction photocatalyst formed by integrating potassium-doped polymeric carbon nitride (KPCN) with metallic Zn₃N₂, synthesized via a microwave-assisted molten salt method. The resulting Schottky contact effectively suppresses the reverse diffusion of electrons, achieving spatial separation of photogenerated charges and prolonging their lifetime, which significantly enhances photocatalytic activity and efficiency.
