Circularly Polarized Light (CPL)-dependent anomalous photovoltaic effect (APVE), characterized by light helicity-manipulated steady photocurrent and above-bandgap photovoltage, has demonstrated significant potential in the fields of photoelectronic and photovoltaics. However, exploiting CPL-dependent APVE in chiral hybrid perovskites, a promising family with intrinsic chiroptical activity and non-centrosymmetric structure, remains challenging. Here, leveraging the flexible structural design of chiral alternating cations intercalation-type perovskites, CPL-dependent APV, for the first time, is achieved in chiral perovskites.

The bulk anomalous photovoltaic (BAPV) effect of acentric materials refers to a distinct concept from traditional semiconductor-based devices, of which the above-bandgap photovoltage hints at a promise for solar-energy conversion. However, it is still a challenge to exploit new BAPV-active systems due to the lacking of knowledge on the structural origin of this concept. BAPV effects in single crystals of a 2D lead-free double perovskite, (BBA) CsAgBiBr (1, BBA = 4-bromobenzylammonium), tailored by mixing aromatic and alkali cations in the confined architecture to form electric polarization are acquired here.

Using Mie theory and Rigorous Coupled Wave Analysis (RCWA) we compare the properties of dielectric particle and void resonators. We show that void resonators-low refractive index inclusions within a high index embedding medium-exhibit larger bandwidth resonances, reduced peak scattering intensity, different polarization anisotropies, and enhanced forward scattering when compared to their particle (high index inclusions in a low index medium) counterparts. We evaluate amorphous silicon solar cell textures comprising either arrays of voids or particles.
