We performed the first simulations of accretion onto the compact objects in the Reissner-Nordström (RN) space-time. The results obtained in general relativity are representative of those for spherically symmetric naked singularities and black holes in a number of modified gravity theories. A possible application of these calculations is to the active galactic nuclei with their powerful jets and outflows.

Mimetic gravity has gained significant appeal in cosmological contexts, but static spherically symmetric space-times within the baseline theory are highly non-trivial: the two natural solutions are a naked singularity and a black hole space-time obtained through an appropriate gluing procedure. We study the shadow properties of these two objects, finding both to be pathological. In particular, the naked singularity does not cast a shadow, whereas the black hole casts a shadow which is too small.

Although the competitive lateral flow immunoassay (CLFIA) using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as labels has been widely adopted for the rapid detection of small molecules, its sensitivity is often constrained by the insufficient colorimetric signal produced by conventional AuNPs labels. Herein, we introduce a new type of intensified colorimetric label, denoted as SAAS, which is engineered by integrating gold-silver alloy nanoparticles (Au-Ag NPs) within a dendritic silica scaffold. These pitaya-type silica nanohybrids combine the advantages of the amplified molar extinction coefficient of alloy units with the signal collective effect of numerous Au-Ag NPs in a singular label.

Axisymmetric solutions to Einstein field equations via integral transforms.

Heliyon

September 2023

Departamento de Fisica, Universidad de los Andes, Cra. 1E No. 18A-10, Bogota, Colombia.

In this paper, we present new axisymmetric and reflection symmetric vacuum solutions to the Einstein field equations. They are obtained using the Hankel integral transform method and all three solutions exhibit naked singularities. Our results further reinforce the importance and special character of axisymmetric solutions in general relativity and highlight the role of integral transforms methods in solving complex problems in this field.

Quasi-Hyperbolically Symmetric -Metric.

Entropy (Basel)

September 2023

Departament de Física, Universitat Illes Balears, 07122 Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

We carry out a systematic study on the motion of test particles in the region inner to the naked singularity of a quasi-hyperbolically symmetric γ-metric. The geodesic equations are written and analyzed in detail. The obtained results are contrasted with the corresponding results obtained for the axially symmetric γ-metric and the hyperbolically symmetric black hole.
