Background: Recent advancements in connectome analyses allow for more fine-grained measurements of brain network integrity. One measure of integrity is resilience, or the capacity of the network to retain functionality when confronted with endogenous or exogenous perturbations that result in damage or error. We assessed the impact of individual differences in the resilience of resting BOLD connectivity on the relationship between cognitive and brain changes in a lifespan cohort of cognitively healthy adults over a 5-year period.

Purpose: Recent research on quantitative EEG in coma has proposed several metrics correlating with consciousness level. However, the heterogeneous nature of coma can challenge the generalizability of these measures. This study investigates alpha-coma, an electroclinical pattern characterized by a widespread, nonreactive alpha rhythm often linked to poor outcomes.

Background: FLIO a novel in vivo reproducible, non-invasive imaging technology, measures fluorescence lifetime decay in two spectral channels for short-lived retinal chromophores in two domains: Channel 1 emission wavelength 498-560 nm corresponding to NADH and FAD/ATP function and Channel 2, 560-720 nm wavelength corresponding to lipofuscin/lysosomal function. These data reflect the retinal mitochondrial molecular environment. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been recently explored as a cause of decreased synaptic function and cognitive decline in AD.

Background: Astrocytes are a glial cell type responsible for many protective functions in the brain. While they are primarily recognized for regulating synaptic activity, they're also essential for maintaining the neurovascular unit, and cerebral hyperperfusion during metabolic demand. Calcium signaling has been identified as a regulatory process for these functions.

Oral health and sleep quality are critical components of overall health, but their relationship remains poorly understood. The present meta-analysis therefore investigates the association between oral health and sleep quality, synthesizing evidence from diverse populations. To this aim, a comprehensive search strategy identified 311 articles, from which 8 studies encompassing 18 comparisons met the inclusion criteria.
