Transdiagnostic conceptualization of schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorder. An integrative framework of minimal self disturbance.

Neuropsychopharmacol Hung

December 2024

Pszichiátriai és Pszichoterápiás Klinika, Semmelweis Egyetem, Budapest.

Article Synopsis
  • The study suggests that autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia may share overlapping features, particularly regarding minimal self-experience, characterized by altered body ownership and agency.
  • A literature review highlighted tools used to assess self-experience in both disorders, revealing that minimal self-disturbances are significant in both, though they manifest differently.
  • The findings indicate that these disorders might be part of a shared psychopathological continuum, with common neural mechanisms contributing to self-disturbances across the conditions.

An Efficient Anomalous Sound Detection System for Microcontrollers.

Sensors (Basel)

November 2024

Graduate Institute of Electronics Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taipei 106319, Taiwan.

Anomalous Sound Detection (ASD) systems are pivotal in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Through the early detection of machines' anomalies, these systems facilitate proactive maintenance, thereby mitigating potential losses. Although prior studies have improved system accuracy using various advanced machine learning technologies, they frequently neglect the associated substantial computing and storage demands, which are crucial in resource-constrained IIoT environments.

Long-Range Surface Forces in Salt-in-Ionic Liquids.

ACS Nano

December 2024

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, Illinois 61801, United States.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are a promising class of electrolytes with a unique combination of properties, such as extremely low vapor pressures and nonflammability. Doping ILs with alkali metal salts creates an electrolyte that is of interest for battery technology. These salt-in-ionic liquids (SiILs) are a class of superconcentrated, strongly correlated, and asymmetric electrolytes.

Basic Cells Special Features and Their Influence on Global Transport Properties of Long Periodic Structures.

Entropy (Basel)

November 2024

Departamento de Física, Universidade Federal do Paraná, Curitiba 81531-980, PR, Brazil.

In this contribution, we address quantum transport in long periodic arrays whose basic cells, localized potentials U(x), display certain particular features. We investigate under which conditions these "local" special characteristics can influence the tunneling behavior through the full structure. As the building blocks, we consider two types of U(x)s: combinations of either Pöschl-Teller, U0/cosh2[αx], potentials (for which the reflection and transmission coefficients are known analytically) or Gaussian-shaped potentials.
