The article describes a technique for digital holographic reconstruction of complex amplitude fields in diffuse blood facies using laser polarization-interference phase scanning to isolate a single scattered component of the object field. This method serves as the basis for developing algorithms for Mueller-matrix reconstruction of linear and circular birefringence parameters in the polycrystalline architectonics of blood facies. Statistical (central moments of the 1st-4th orders) and multifractal analyses (fractal dimension spectra) are applied to study the optical anisotropy maps of polycrystalline networks during blood dehydration.

Flexible and diverse manipulation of electromagnetic (EM) waves in half space (reflection or transmission) has facilitated strong aspiration toward full-space wave control. However, it remains challenging to achieve independent amplitude and phase control, which seriously hinder the real-world applications. Herein, an innovative strategy of trifunctional metasurface is proposed to independently and simultaneously manipulate the amplitude and phase of circular polarized waves in full space.

Article Synopsis
  • Fourier ptychography (FP) is a computational imaging technique that enhances image resolution and obtains phase information by using varied angles of light, but reconstructing images can be challenging, especially with noisy or incomplete data.
  • To address these challenges, a new algorithm combining anisotropic total variation and Tikhonov regularizations is proposed, improving image reconstruction quality in high-throughput scenarios.
  • The method, which utilizes the alternating direction method of multipliers, has been tested against other FP algorithms and shows promising results in noise reduction and preserving key details in images collected from biological specimens, even with sparse data.

Recently, polarization multiplexing has become a common strategy to enhance the information capacity of metasurfaces. Nevertheless, the intricate design of anisotropic nanostructures forming a polarization multiplexed metasurface poses a significant challenge, increasing the requirements for manufacturing processes and diminishing overall robustness. Herein, we present a minimalist metasurface comprised of only two kinds of nanostructures to achieve the integration of continuous-amplitude modulated nanoprinting and eight-step phase-only helicity-multiplexed holography.
