Polymers have been ruling the packaging industry for decades due to their versatility, easy manufacturability, and low cost. The overuse of non-biodegradable plastics in food packaging has become a serious environmental concern. Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) reinforced nanocomposites have exceptional electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties.

In this study, octenyl succinic acid sodium starch (OSAS) decorated with chitosan (CS) of different molecular weights (50-150 kDa) and concentrations (10-30 mg/mL) was used to stabilize an emulsion coencapsulating with vitamin A (V) and vitamin D (V). The effect of CS decoration on the thermal and UV stability of the emulsion, as well as the underlying mechanism, was elucidated. The incorporation of CS increased the retention rates of V and V by 11.

Hydrogel electrolytes are crucial for solving the problems of random zinc dendrite growth, hydrogen evolution reactions, and uncontrollable passivation. However, their complex fabrication processes pose challenges to achieving large-scale production with excellent mechanical properties required to withstand multiple cycles of mechanical loads while maintaining high electrochemical performance needed for the new-generation flexible zinc-ion batteries. Herein, we present a superspreading-based strategy to produce robust hydrogel electrolytes consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, sodium alginate and sodium acetate.

Aqueous zinc ion batteries are often adversely affected by the poor stability of zinc metal anodes. Persistent water-induced side reactions and uncontrolled dendrite growth have seriously damaged the long-term service life of aqueous zinc ion batteries. In this paper, it is reported that a zinc sulfide with optimized electron arrangement on the surface of zinc anode is used to modify the zinc anode to achieve long-term cycle stability of zinc anode.

Biomimetic bone cartilage scaffolds based on trilayer methacrylated hydroxyapatite/GelMA composites for full-thickness osteochondral regeneration.

Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Higher Educational Key Laboratory for Nano Biomedical Technology of Fujian Province, The School of Pharmacy, Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou 350122, China. Electronic address:

Since cartilage injury is often accompanied by subchondral bone damage, conventional single-phase materials cannot accurately simulate the osteochondral structure or repair osteochondral injury. In this work, a gradient gelatin-methacryloyl (GelMA) hydrogel scaffold was constructed by a layer-by-layer stacking method to realize full-thickness regeneration of cartilage, calcified cartilage and subchondral bone. Of note, to surmount the inadequate mechanical property of GelMA hydrogel, nanohydroxyapatite (nHA) was incorporated and further functionalized with hydroxyethyl methacrylate (nHA-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, nHAMA) to enhance the interfacial adhesion with the hydrogel, resulting in better mechanical strength akin to human bone.
