We report the detailed investigation of the magnetic, transport, and magnetocaloric effects of GdS- bSe by magnetic susceptibility χ(T ), isothermal magnetization M (H), resistivity ρ(T, H), and heat capacity Cp(T ) measurements, crystallizing in the ZrSiS-type tetragonal crystal system with space group P 4/nmm. Temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed long-range antiferromagnetic ordering with two additional magnetic anomalies below N´eel temperature (TN ≈ 8.6 K), corroborated through magnetocaloric and specific heat studies.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), crystalline and porous conjugated structures, are of great interest for sustainable energy applications. Organic building blocks in COFs with suitable electronic properties can feature strong optical absorption, whereas the extended crystalline network can establish a band structure enabling long-range coherent transport. This peculiar combination of both molecular and solid-state materials properties makes COFs an interesting platform to study and ultimately utilize photoexcited charge carrier diffusion.

Stable Sb exhibits a rhombohedral structure, often referred to as distorted primitive cubic, with each Sb atom having three short and three longer first neighbor bonds. However, this crystal structure can also be interpreted as being layered, putting emphasis on only three short first neighbor bonds. Therefore, temperature-dependent extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy is carried out at the Sb K-edge in order to obtain more detailed information on local structural and vibrational properties.

ConspectusThe surface of a catalyst is crucial for understanding the mechanisms of catalytic reactions at the molecular level and developing new catalysts with higher activity, selectivity, and durability. Ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (AP-XPS) is a technique studying the surface of a sample in the gas phase, mainly identifying chemical identity, analyzing oxidation state, and measuring surface composition. In the last decade, numerous photoelectron spectroscopic methods for fundamental studies of key topics in catalysis using AP-XPS have been developed.

Supramolecular self-assembly is an advanced approach for constructing ordered nanoscale architectures with broad applications. While the principles of supramolecular polymerization have been thoroughly explored in artificial small molecules, polymer transformations remain barely explored, likely due to the lack of suitable reference models presenting well-defined and reversible transitions between aggregates. In this study, we introduce a series of bisdendronized squaramides (SQs) 1-3, showcasing complex self-assembly behaviours involving four distinct aggregates, three different interaction patterns, and various thermodynamically controlled polymorph transformations.
