Purpose: To evaluate the effect of the topical application of the ethanol extract (EESL) and the hydroethanolic fraction (HFSL) of ripe Solanum lycocarpum fruit on the healing of experimentally-induced wounds in mice.

Methods: The EESL and HFSL obtained from ripe fruit of the species S. lycocarpum were obtained by percolation with ethanol.

The sustainable use of pomegranate peel, a by-product of the food industry, is gaining importance in developing pharmaceutical bio-inputs, aligning with circular economy practices and waste reduction. This study explores the application of dry crude pomegranate peel extract (PPE) as a bio-input for medicinal gels with wound healing properties. PPE was extracted via percolation in ethanol and freeze-dried.

This study introduces a method for synthesizing electrically conductive hydrogels by incorporating a self-assembled, percolating graphene network. Our approach differs from previous approaches in two crucial aspects: using pristine graphene rather than graphene oxide and self-assembling the percolation network rather than creating random networks by blending. We use pristine graphene at an oil-water interface to stabilize a water-in-oil emulsion, successfully creating hydrogel foams with conductivities up to 15 mS m and tunable porosity.

Article Synopsis
  • The shape and arrangement of grains in mixtures affect the electrical properties, with elongated grains impacting conductivity based on their alignment with electric current.
  • When conductor grains are aligned with the current stream, they enhance conductivity and lower the critical percolation threshold, while insulator elongation in this direction shows minimal impact on thresholds.
  • This study introduces a simulation model (EMT) that explores how variations in dielectric constant and conductivity relate to grain elongation in mixed materials, highlighting the significance of alignment direction.

Behavioral research has shown that inconsistency in spelling-to-sound mappings slows visual word recognition and word naming. However, the time course of this effect remains underexplored. To address this, we asked skilled adult readers to perform a 1-back repetition detection task that did not explicitly involve phonological coding, in which we manipulated lexicality (high-frequency words vs.
