[The late results of using evicrol and stomadent for eliminating dental tissue defects in children].

Clinical analysis of the efficacies of evikrol and stomadent used to replace dental hard tissue defects in children has shown similar results, but stomadent is preferable because the filling made of it virtually does not change its color. The authors claim that the development of such complications as caries recurrence, change of the color of the filling in sites of their union with dental tissues, abnormal edge union is related to the technique of enamel acid tanning of immature children's teeth, that should be modified.

[Effect of plasmapheresis on the course of experimental tuberculosis and the tolerance of chemotherapy by patients with renal tuberculosis].

A plasmapheresis (PA) model was developed to be used in chronic rabbit experiments. Test results obtained in 96 generalized tuberculosis animals demonstrated a more benign tuberculosis process in animals subjected to plasmapheresis, which was confirmed by parameters of the coefficients of mass and indices of animals' organ affecting, findings of the cation-lysosomal test and peptide molecules content in the peripheral blood. Rabbit studies involving registration of bromsulphalein half-life, hepatic blood flow and relative parenchymatous clearing showed that the isoniazide and rifampicin action significantly decreased under the PA influence.

[Effect of flanking regions on the expression of the human interleukin-2 chromosomal gene in a murine myeloma cell line].

A human interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene was isolated from genomic DNA library. The isolated gene with 5'- and 3'-flanking sequences of various lengths was inserted into plasmids derived from the retroviral vector pPSneo. The recombinant plasmids were transfected into myeloma X63Ag8-653 cells.

Energetic cooperation via ion-permeable junctions in mixed animal cell cultures.

Low ouabain concentration (1 x 10(-6) M) is shown to decrease intracellular K+ (K+in) and to increase intracellular Na+ (Na+in) in human fibroblast cell cultures. The same ouabain concentration was without effect upon K+in ad Na+in in rodent cultures such as BHK-21, mouse fibroblasts and rat glyoma C6 cells. K+in and Na+in in the mixed cultures of human and BHK-21 fibroblasts or human and mouse fibroblasts were found to be resistant to 1 x 10(-6) M ouabain whereas that of the mixtures of human and rat glyoma C6 cells proved to be ouabain-sensitive.

[An epidemiological study of ischemic heart disease, vascular brain diseases and their risk factors in an open population of 25- to 64-year olds in Novosibirsk].

To study the incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD), cerebrovascular diseases (CVD), combined pathology (CHD and CVD), and their risk factors such as arterial hypertension (AH), overweight (OW), hypercholesterolemia (HC), and tobacco smoking in the same population, a random representative sample of male and female populations were examined in three districts of Novosibirsk. AH and tobacco smoking were found predominant among men, whereas OW and HC among women. It turned out that almost every fourth person out of the men and almost every second woman suffered from cardiovascular diseases.

[Dynamics of the rythm of the isolated and intact frog heart].

This study was designed to examine the changes of the isolated frog's heart rate as a function of the time in the two time intervals: 20-95 min and 95-170 min after hearts were prepared. The heart rate decreased in these intervals quite linear but average slope between 20-75 min was significantly steeper than in the time interval 95-170 min. It was shown that the difference in the heart rate response induced by the increasing temperature in intact animals and isolated hearts partly might be explored by this decrease in the isolated frog's heart rate with time.

[The positive chronotropic effects of salsolinol on the isolated rat heart].

[Clinico-bacteriologic and immunologic criteria in the formation of suppurative-inflammatory pathology in newborn infants].

Based on the results of clinico-bacteriological and immunological studies carried out in the early neonatal period in 65 neonates afflicted with pyoinflammatory diseases and in their mothers, diagnostic criteria for intrauterine and early neonatal infection were elaborated. The significance played in this process of the character and level of microbial colonization of the amniotic fluid, placenta, labor tract of the mother, intrauterine antigenic stimulation of the fetus, changes in the peripheral blood and inflammatory alterations in the placenta was defined. Clinical, bacteriological and immunological prognostic criteria for the risk of the development of pyoinflammatory diseases in neonates were elaborated.

[Clinico-bacteriologic and immunologic characteristics of healthy newborn infants and their mothers].

A study was made of the establishment of biocenosis in the early neonatal period in healthy full-term neonates born to healthy mothers and in children belonging to a group at risk with an aggravated anamnesis but with no history of pyoinflammatory diseases. The study was related to bacterial colonization of the mother, amniotic fluid and placenta as well as to the immune status of the lying in woman and fetus. In 37% of children belonging to the group at risk, the minimal signs of intrauterine infection were discovered.

PCR-based cDNA library construction: general cDNA libraries at the level of a few cells.

A procedure for the construction of general cDNA libraries is described which is based on the amplification of total cDNA in vitro. The first cDNA strand is synthesized from total RNA using an oligo(dT)-containing primer. After oligo(dG) tailing the total cDNA is amplified by PCR using two primers complementary to oligo(dA) and oligo(dG) ends of the cDNA.

[Dynamics of inherent interactions between the classical and alternative pathways of complement activation in premature infants with suppurative-inflammatory diseases].

Altogether 57 premature infants were examined. Of these, 15 presented with neonatal sepsis, 36 with local purulent infection (LPI) of different etiology, and 6 children were conventionally normal serving as control. Early activation of the alternative pathway of the complement system was shown by the patients as compared with control.

[Effect of dihydropyridines on cation transport across the skeletal muscle membrane in the frog].

2,6-Dimethyl-3,5-dimethoxycarbonyl-4-(o-difluromethoxyphenyl)- 1,4-dihydropyridine (ryodipine) blocks Ca-channels in phasic muscle fibres from ileofibularis and semitendinosus muscle of Rana esculenta. Ryodipine and some other newly synthesized dihydropyridines (10(-7)-10(-4) M) exerted a slight, if any, effect on the steady-state of potassium chord conductance in isotonic K+-sulfate solution. The effluxes of potassium and rubidium from the sartorius muscle of Rana temporaria also remained unchanged after addition of 2 x 10(-4) M ryodipine.

[Furosemide-sensitive cation transport in frog skeletal muscle fibers].

Furosemide-inhibitable components in unidirectional cation fluxes have been identified in frog skeletal muscle. In sodium loaded muscles, placed in sodium-free rubidium lithium media, furosemide (1 mM) inhibits partially rubidium and lithium influxes as well as potassium and sodium outfluxes. The furosemide-inhibitable components were found to depend on the presence of ouabain.

[Brevikarin dihydrochloride--a new original anti-arrhythmia agent].

On six models of arrhythmias of atrial and ventricular types (induced by administration of aconitine, chlorcalcium, chlorbarium, strophanthin, chloroform-adrenaline and by coronary occlusion) it was shown that in rats, cats and rabbits the antiarrhythmic, preventive and relieving activity of brevicarine dichlorhydrate exceeded that of quinidine, novocainamide and lidocaine in power by 3-5 times and in duration by 3-18 times.
