With one third of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) expected to develop cancer recurrence in the first two years after therapy, accurate assessment of the response and timely detection of cancer recurrence after concurrent chemo- and radiotherapy (CCRT) treatment is of great importance. Although there is neither definite consensus about the preferred imaging modality, nor the time interval until the first diagnostic examination after CCRT, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) recommends the use of MRI and 18F-FDG PET/CT as a post-treatment LACC response-assessment imaging tools. In this study, we tried to appraise the early therapy response in LACC patients by both 18F-FDG PET/CT and MRI in regard to the follow-up imaging results and their mutual interrelationship, and to ascertain if the post-treatment 18F-FDG PET/CT and MRI results were related to the progression-free and overall survival rate in women with LACC after CCRT.

We monitored the curing process of an epoxy resin by using long-period fiber gratings. The refractive index of the epoxy resin increases during the curing process and can be measured to determine the degree of curing.

The objective of this study is to compare the high dose rate brachytherapy treatment outcomes in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) depending on the treatment planning pattern-two-dimension (2D) or three-dimension (3D) treatment planning. : The study was retrospective and two groups of patients were compared in it (a group of 101 patients who underwent 2D planned high-dose-rate endobronchial brachytherapy (HDR-EBBT) in 2017/18 and a group of 83 patients who underwent 3D planned HDR-EBBT between January 2021 and June 2023).

The early land plants evolved several specialized cell types and tissues that did not exist in their aquatic ancestors. Of these, water-conducting elements and reproductive organs have received most of the research attention.

However, risk acceptability is often not reflected on in the context of climate change risk studies. Noting that the different climate change scenarios depict drastically contrasting images of the future in terms of population growth, economic development, and changes to life expectancy, this article uses risk acceptance criteria that are based on socioeconomic considerations to highlight the need for nonuniform risk acceptability across climate change scenarios.
