To study the relative roles of creatine kinase (CK) and adenylate systems in cardiac energy turnover, the effect of CK inhibitor, iodoacetamide- (IAA, 0.5 mM), and 2-deoxyglucose-(DOG, 2 mM) induced) 65% depletion of adenine nucleotides at slightly decreased CK flux was determined in isolated rat heart. Both substances did not substantially affect contractile parameters of the isovolumic heart.

The electrophoretic study of the RNA of human rotavirus strains (1146 strains) circulating in 9 cities at the territory of the European part of the RSFSR was carried out. The electrophoretic (EP) types of rotavirus were established in each individual area. The study revealed that the most widespread rotaviruses responsible for the majority of gastroenteritis cases are those with the long EP type of RNA, characterized by the joint migration of segments 2, 3 and 7 (the 3rd EP type of RNA).

The authors provide the results of studying 137Cs and 90Sr pollution of soil, plants and milk in the Gomel region in 1986-1989. Describe the dynamics of the ratios soil-grass and milk-soil during that period. The content of 137Cs in milk ranged from n.

In the former case, a profound cardiac pump failure was observed despite almost normal levels of myocardial AdN and phosphocreatine. Those hearts could not maintain the aortic output at standard load due to lower LV systolic pressure, that was accompanied by increased minimal and maximal diastolic pressures by 5-7 mm Hg as well as by LV diastolic stiffness.

A full-length cDNA copy of the gene coding for major neutralizing glycoprotein VP7 of a human rotavirus isolate 1407 with the "long" electrophoretype (classified as the first electrophoretype) was cloned and sequenced. The primary structure of glycoprotein VP7 of isolate 1407 in A and C antigenic regions was found to be similar to that of serotype 1 virus.

Rotavirus RNA was detected in nasopharyngeal washings, obtained from patients with rotavirus gastroenteritis (76.3% of cases) and gastroenteritis of unknown etiology (34.7% of cases), by the method of molecular hybridization with the use of RNA of monkey virus SA11, labeled with 32P in the process of T4-ligase reaction.

Experimental and clinical study of the analgesic effects of mebicar and benzodiazepine series tranquilizers (sibazon and chlozepid) and their combinations with non-narcotic analgesics (amidopyrin, pyranal) or local anesthetic lidocaine has demonstrated a more marked effect of benzodiazepine derivatives on pain sensitivity thresholds as against mebicar. Tranquilizer combinations with other analgesics helped define the optimal premedication variants: benzodiazepine derivative augment analgesic activity whereas mebicar potentiates lidocaine effect.

The conventional method of somatic hybridization of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes of mice immunized with peripheral blood leucocytes from a patient with acute myelomonoblastic leukemia (AMML) was used to obtain hybridomas. The study of BCA-09 MCA specificity has shown that in more than half of cases they reveal surface membrane antigen of leukemia cells in patients with AMML, and do not react with blast cells of patients with other variants of leukemia and lymphosarcoma, as well as with blood cells of normal subjects, and with some human cultural cell lines.

Full length cDNA copy of the VP7 gene coding for the major neutralization glycoprotein of the human rotavirus RK9 with an unusual "wide" electrophoretype is cloned and sequenced. Glycoprotein VP7 of RK9 has a unique amino acid composition in A and C antigenic regions.

The occurrence of some HLA-antigens and of haptoglobulin types was specified for an overall group of patients, staphylococcal and pseudomonas sepsis, vital infection patients. Distribution of the above immunogenetic markers in separate nosological variants of pyoseptic infection has been analyzed.

Cryogenization of the culture in the form of suspension of the vegetative mycelium in 20 per cent glycerol solution at a rate of 1 degree/min showed to be advantageous over lyophilization and L-drying. Cryogenization under such conditions provided rather high viability of the culture and preservation of its initial antibiotic activity for the period of its storage for at least 1.

The combined effect of glutamic acid (15 mM) and phosphocreatine (10 mM) on metabolism and postischemic recovery of cardiac function was studied in isolated perfused working guinea pig hearts. Addition of these two agents into standard hyperpotassium cardioplegic solution increased twice the recovery of the aortic output and improved restoration of volume work and an index of functional recovery. This effect was combined with the complete recovery of ATP, phosphocreatine, the decrease in ammonia and lactate tissue contents and preservation of amino acid pool.

Based on the composition of the differentiating antigens of the leukemic cells the following immunological variants of the disease were identified: pre-B, pre-T and T-ALL--the thymic and mature (activated) ones. The phenotype was compared with the cytochemical parameters of the lymphoblasts of the identified immunological variants of ALL and with some clinical and hematological manifestations of the disease.

Left ventricular (LV) contractile function and pump function were depressed in isolated working hearts from rats treated with either guanidinopropionic acid (GPA), an inhibitor of creatine influx, or the anthracycline antibiotic, adriamycin, for 6 and 10 weeks, respectively. In both groups of treated animals myocardial phosphocreatine content was lower than in control hearts, while ATP content was unchanged. Hearts of treated animals exhibited only a minor depression of cardiac output with a submaximal pressure load or during volume overload.
