Purpose: This study aims to accurately predict the effects of hormonal therapy on prostate cancer (PC) lesions by integrating multi-modality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the clinical marker prostate-specific antigen (PSA). It addresses the limitations of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in capturing long-range spatial relations and the Vision Transformer (ViT)'s deficiency in localization information due to consecutive downsampling. The research question focuses on improving PC response prediction accuracy by combining both approaches.

Forensic Odontology related awareness, knowledge and attitude among dentist and dental students in two Egyptian Universities: A survey-based study.

Aim And Objectives: This study evaluated the awareness, knowledge, and attitude regarding forensic odontology (FO) among dental students and graduates at Beni-Suef University and Badr University in Cairo, Egypt.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 316 dentists and dental students in their final year of undergraduate study. An online self-administered questionnaire in English was used to obtain participants' responses.

Objective: The present study was designed to investigate the nephroprotective and immunoprotective effects of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) in comparison to N-acetylcysteine (NAC) against ochratoxin A (OTA) - intoxication.

Methods: Forty-eight adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were categorized into four groups: Control; OTA intoxication (5 mg OTA/kg diet); OTA + NAC, rats received 200 mg NAC/day before feeding balanced diet contaminated with OTA; and (OTA + SAMe). Rats received 200 mg SAMe/day dissolved in distilled water orally just before feeding a balanced diet contaminated with OTA.

A Clinically Explainable AI-Based Grading System for Age-Related Macular Degeneration Using Optical Coherence Tomography.

We propose an automated, explainable artificial intelligence (xAI) system for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) diagnosis. Mimicking the physician's perceptions, the proposed xAI system is capable of deriving clinically meaningful features from optical coherence tomography (OCT) B-scan images to differentiate between a normal retina, different grades of AMD (early, intermediate, geographic atrophy (GA), inactive wet or active neovascular disease [exudative or wet AMD]), and non-AMD diseases. Particularly, we extract retinal OCT-based clinical imaging markers that are correlated with the progression of AMD, which include: (i) subretinal tissue, sub-retinal pigment epithelial tissue, intraretinal fluid, subretinal fluid, and choroidal hypertransmission detection using a DeepLabV3+ network; (ii) detection of merged retina layers using a novel convolutional neural network model; (iii) drusen detection based on 2D curvature analysis; (iv) estimation of retinal layers' thickness, and first-order and higher-order reflectivity features.

Multi-Stage Classification of Retinal OCT Using Multi-Scale Ensemble Deep Architecture.

This work proposes a multi-stage classification network built on a multi-scale (pyramidal) feature ensemble architecture for retinal image classification using optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. Multi-Stage Classification-Based Deep Learning for Gleason System Grading Using Histopathological Images.

In this work, we introduced an automated diagnostic system for Gleason system grading and grade groups (GG) classification using whole slide images (WSIs) of digitized prostate biopsy specimens (PBSs). Our system first classifies the Gleason pattern (GP) from PBSs and then identifies the Gleason score (GS) and GG. We developed a comprehensive DL-based approach to develop a grading pipeline system for the digitized PBSs and consider GP as a classification problem (not segmentation) compared to current research studies (deals with as a segmentation problem).

A Cascaded Mutliresolution Ensemble Deep Learning Framework for Large Scale Alzheimer's Disease Detection Using Brain MRIs.

Alzheimer's is progressive and irreversible type of dementia, which causes degeneration and death of cells and their connections in the brain. AD worsens over time and greatly impacts patients' life and affects their important mental functions, including thinking, the ability to carry on a conversation, and judgment and response to environment. Clinically, there is no single test to effectively diagnose Alzheimer disease.

Predicting the Level of Respiratory Support in COVID-19 Patients Using Machine Learning.

In this paper, a machine learning-based system for the prediction of the required level of respiratory support in COVID-19 patients is proposed. The level of respiratory support is divided into three classes: class 0 which refers to minimal support, class 1 which refers to non-invasive support, and class 2 which refers to invasive support. A two-stage classification system is built.

A deep learning framework for automated classification of histopathological kidney whole-slide images.

Background: Renal cell carcinoma is the most common type of malignant kidney tumor and is responsible for 14,830 deaths per year in the United States. Among the four most common subtypes of renal cell carcinoma, clear cell renal cell carcinoma has the worst prognosis and clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma appears to have no malignant potential. Distinction between these two subtypes can be difficult due to morphologic overlap on examination of histopathological preparation stained with hematoxylin and eosin.

Evaluation of the therapeutic role of allopurinol on bisphenol S gastric and renal toxicity in adult male albino rats: An in vivo study.

Bisphenol S (BPS) is used as an alternative to bisphenol A (BPA) in polycarbonate plastics, epoxy resins and thermal receipt sheet manufacturing. We examined the toxic effects of BPS on gastric and renal functions, as well as the efficacy of allopurinol as a treatment. Albino rats were given only BPS (30 and 120 mg/kg BW/day), and some were treated with allopurinol prior to sacrifice.
