Background And Objectives: Visibility of sexual and gender minority (SGM) people has been steadily increasing over the recent years; however, little is known about the distinct seizure and mental health characteristics among SGM people with epilepsy. In this study, we describe these characteristics among SGM subgroups.

Methods: Data on demographics, seizure metrics, mental health, and quality of life were collected using patient-reported questionnaires gathered at first epilepsy clinic visits as part of routine clinical care from January 2019 to September 2023 at Massachusetts General Hospital.

A Comparative Investigation of the Reliability of Biodegradable Components Produced through Additive Manufacturing Technology.

Using the linear elastic finite element method, we investigated how defects significantly influence the integrity of 3D-printed parts made from biodegradable material by experimental techniques and numerical simulations. A defective flaw was incorporated into the tensile test dog-bone sample using Computer-Aided Design and processed by slicing software. Supporting parenting among Syrian refugees in Lebanon: a randomized controlled trial of the caregiver support intervention.

Background: Parenting interventions in humanitarian settings have prioritized the acquisition of parenting knowledge and skills, while overlooking the adverse effects of stress and distress on parenting-a key mediator of refugee children's mental health. We evaluated the effectiveness of the Caregiver Support Intervention (CSI), which emphasizes caregiver wellbeing together with training in positive parenting.

Methods: We conducted a two-arm randomized controlled trial of the CSI with Syrian refugees in Lebanon, with an intent-to-treat design, from September 2019-December 2020.

Swollen eyelid reveals multiple intracranial hydatid cysts associated with a palpebral cyst.

We report a case of a hydatid cyst of the eyelid in a 12-year-old boy associated with cerebral involvement. The patient was initially treated by neurosurgeons for brain cysts. The course after an interval of two months was marked by regression of the palpebral cyst on albendazole.

In spite of the wide distribution of sickle cell disease (SCD) in Africa, an association with systemic lupus erythromatosis (SLE) is seldom reported. This may be due to the poor association between the two diseases or the high prevalence of missed cases. Progressive renal injury is prominent in both SCD and SLE.

Mycetoma in the Sudan: an update from the Mycetoma Research Centre, University of Khartoum, Sudan.

This communication reports on the Mycetoma Research Centre of the University of Khartoum, Sudan experience on 6,792 patients seen during the period 1991-2014.The patients were predominately young (64% under 30 years old) males (76%). The majority (68%) were from the Sudan mycetoma belt and 28% were students.

Myasthenic Crisis Manifesting as Postoperative Respiratory Failure following Resection of Unsuspected Intrathoracic Thymic T-Cell Lymphoma during Thyroidectomy for an Adjacent Large Retrosternal Goiter.

A middle-aged female with a goiter of 10 years' duration presented with progressive pressure symptoms, nocturnal choking and dyspnea on exertion for 5 months. Physical examination demonstrated a large simple multinodular goiter. Imaging revealed a deep retrosternal goiter extending below the tracheal bifurcation with marked tracheal deviation.
