The female reproductive function is coordinated by the endocrine system driven by the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. While not directly part of the female reproductive system, the gut microbiome plays a crucial role in overall health, including reproductive health. The gut microbiome communicates bidirectionally with the brain via the gut-brain axis, influencing stress levels, mood, and hormonal balance, which can impact reproductive health and fertility.

In the environment, or during mammalian metabolism, the diuron herbicide (3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea) is transformed mainly into 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1-methylurea (DCPMU) and 3,4-dichloroaniline (DCA). Previous research suggests that such substances are toxic to the urothelium of Wistar rats where, under specific exposure conditions, they may induce urothelial cell degeneration, necrosis, hyperplasia, and eventually tumors. However, the intimate mechanisms of action associated with such chemical toxicity are not fully understood.

This study assessed associations between changes in the weekly number of sets performed and the percentage change in muscle thickness of the biceps (MT) and triceps (MT) brachii muscles. Through a retrospective analysis, sixty-eight resistance-trained subjects that participated in previous studies had their previous training volumes analyzed and compared to the volume imposed during each individual study. The relationship between variables was determined through correlation and a k-cluster analysis was performed to subdivide the participants into three groups and classified as:<0%; 0-50%, and >50% increase in the number of sets for both muscle groups.

Resistance training alongside proper protein intake is an important tool to mitigate the deleterious effects of the aging process on skeletal muscle tissue. However, it is not completely elucidated whether adding protein supplementation provides further improvements on body composition outcomes of older adults during resistance training programs. The present narrative review aimed to describe the most recent evidence regarding the effects of protein supplementation on both lean body mass and fat mass of older adults and to provide insight into how health professionals may use this information to properly design nutritional programs for this population.

: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of resistance training (RT) with inter-set static stretching (IS) versus traditional RT (TRT) on morphofunctional outcomes in recreationally resistance-trained male and female. : Twenty-two recreationally-trained subjects were allocated to IS group (n = 12) or TRT (n = 10) and completed eight weeks of RT. The only difference between the groups was that IS group included static stretching between sets, while the TRT rested between the sets.
