Linearly-polarized organic electroluminescent devices have gained significant attention due to their potential applications across various fields. However, traditional thin-film organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) face significant challenges, primarily due to the necessity of incorporating complex optical elements. In this study, we present linearly-polarized OLEDs (LP-OLEDs) based on organic single crystals that we have designed and prepared.

In this regard, room-temperature discotic liquid crystals (DLCs) are potential candidates, where quasi-1D self-assembly affords a charge-transport channel along their columnar axis. This work shows a molecular design strategy by utilizing anthraquinone as the primary motif, surrounded by ester functionalized tri-alkoxy phenyl units to develop room-temperature DLCs (1.

With rapid advancements and innovation in materials design, the efficiencies of TADF OLEDs for each of the primary color points as well as for white devices now rival those of state-of-the-art phosphorescent emitters. Beyond electroluminescent devices, TADF compounds have also found increasing utility and applications in numerous related fields, from photocatalysis, to sensing, to imaging and beyond.

For monolayers made of π-conjugated discotic liquid crystal (DLC) molecule nanowires, achieving precise separation and alignment of these nanowires has been a long-standing challenge. This research explores an approach using the manipulation of subphase temperature and surface pressure within a Langmuir trough to control molecular nanowire separation.

This study's objective was to assess the efficacy of peroxyacetic acid (PAA) at a concentration of ≤80 mg/L in preventing cross-contamination under various organic loads in a benchtop model tomato flume tank. The stability of 80 mg/L PAA at different chemical oxygen demand (COD) levels was also tested.

To better understand how the need to sleep is sensed and discharged, much effort has gone into identifying the neural circuits involved in regulating arousal, especially those that promote sleep. In prevailing models, the dorsal fan-shaped body (dFB) plays a central role in this process in the fly brain.

Propagation of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global public health issue that needs special attention concerning horizontal gene transfer (HGT) under micro-nano plastics (MNPs) pressure. Interactions between MNPs and microbes, or mere persistence of MNPs in the environment (either water or soil), influence microbial gene expressions, affecting autochthonous microbiomes, their resistomes, and the overall ecosystem.

In sheep breeds, natural mutations have demonstrated that the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) super family ligands, such as growth differentiation factor 9 (), bone morphogenetic protein 15 () and their type I receptor (bone morphogenetic protein receptor (), are essential for ovulation and increasing litter size. In this study, 216 female Tibetan cashmere goats were sampled, and candidate genes with fecundity traits were detected via restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and sequenced.

Subepithelial connective tissue or free gingival grafts are often used in traditional mucogingival surgery to treat gingival recession and keratinized gingival insufficiency. However, due to the disadvantages of autologous soft tissue grafts, such as the preparation of the second surgical site, the limited amount of tissue in the donor site, and postoperative discomfort for patients, the research on autologous soft tissue substitute materials has attracted extensive attention. A variety of donor-substitute materials from different sources are currently used in membranous gingival surgeries, including platelet-rich fibrin, acellular dermal matrix, xenogeneic collagen matrix, etc.

Here, we have clarified the surface-pressure induced molecular nanoarchitectures in a monolayer of a heterocoronene-based discotic liquid crystal (DLC) at air-water and air-solid interfaces using surface manometry, real-time Brewster angle microscopy, and real-space atomic force microscopy (AFM). Chloroform-spread DLCs at a concentration of ∼108 μM exhibit floating domains at the air-water interface comprising small aggregates of edge-on stacked molecules interacting peripheral alkyl chains.

Integrated electro-optical switches are essential as one of the fundamental elements in the development of modern optoelectronics. As an architecture for photonic systems exciton polaritons, hybrid bosonic quasiparticles that possess unique properties derived from both excitons and photons, have shown much promise. For this system, we demonstrate a significant improvement of emitted intensity and condensation threshold by applying an electric field to a microcavity filled with an organic microbelt.

The development of CP-OLEDs relies largely on chiral-emitters, which not only remain rare owing to difficulties in design and synthesis but also limit the performance of electroluminescence. When the polarization (pseudospin) degrees of freedom of a photon interact with its orbital angular momentum, photonic spin-orbit interaction (SOI) emerges such as Rashba-Dresselhaus (RD) effect.

We compute Mayer's bond order, akin to Wiberg's bond index, on the basis of atomic Wannier orbitals with customizable non-degenerate hybridization leading to variable orientations, constructed from first principles, in a representative variety of molecules and layered systems. We put such orbitals in perspective with unbiased maximally localized descriptions of bonding and non-bonding orbitals, and energetics to tunneling of electrons through them between nearest neighbours, to describe the different physical aspects of covalent interactions, which are not necessarily represented using a single unique set of atomic or bonding orbitals.
