Introduction: Vital dyes lymphography during laparoscopic varicocelectomy (LV) has been suggested to allow for lymphatic mapping thereby allowing for lymphatic sparing (LS) and subsequent reduction of hydrocele formation. Intratesticular injection of the dye seems to achieve the best lymphatic visualization, however, the potential toxicity of some agents, is a cause of concern for the risk of testicular pathological changes. We report our experience with LV, to test the hypothesis that Intraoperative lymphography with methylene blue (BL), is safe and reduces the rate of post-operative hydrocelectomy.

Cold stress represents one of the major constraints for agricultural systems and crops productivity, inducing a wide range of negative effects. Particularly, long-term cold stress affects lipid metabolism, modifying the lipids/proteins ratio, the levels of phospholipids and glycolipids, and increasing lipids' unsaturation in bio-membranes. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) reported prominent roles as NADPH suppliers in response to oxidative perturbations.

In aqueous environment amphiphilic molecules organize themselves into supramolecular structures deeply affecting the chemo-physical properties. Supramolecular assemby is also crucial in the pharmaceutical development of bioactive lipophilic molecules whose attitude to self-aggregate is a recognized factor affecting the in vivo pharmacokinetic, but can also play a crucial role in the interaction with the biological targets in in vitro tests. In aqueous solution, amphiphilic drugs exist in a complex equilibrium involving free monomers, oligomers and larger supramolecular aggregates held together by noncovalent bonds.

Autoimmune hepatitis is a rare chronic liver disease, associated with a high level of morbidity and high mortality; approximately 40% of patients with severe untreated disease die within 6 months of diagnosis. It should be treated to achieve complete biochemical and histologic resolution of the disease using corticosteroids and immunosuppression to prevent further progression to cirrhosis. The use of invasive liver biopsy is recommended for the staging and assessment of inflammation and fibrosis for treatment decision-making in the face of an unsatisfactory response or clinical remission, including being a determinant for withdrawal of immunosuppression.

Gestational complications are common in radiological practice and can be identified and evaluated using various imaging methods. Each complication typically presents with specific imaging features; however, there is a lack of comprehensive literature that consolidates this information to facilitate a diagnostic algorithm and focused study. In this context, this review aims to revisit the theoretical basis of differentials in pregnancy-related complications, discussing classic imaging features and providing examples of key features for each diagnosis.

The assessment of lymph node dimensions is a commonly used criterion in analyzing lymphatic involvement related to inflammatory or neoplastic diseases. However, it is important to understand that the interpretation of lymph nodes goes beyond simply considering their size. A pathologic lymph node can present with enlarged dimensions, a heterogeneous appearance, increased cortex thickness, irregular contours, or a lobulated shape.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a significant global health concern. Prognostication of CRC traditionally relies on the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) TNM staging classifications, yet clinical outcomes often vary independently of stage. Despite similarities, rectal and colon cancers are distinct in their diagnostic methodologies and treatments, with MRI and CT scans primarily used for staging rectal and colon cancers, respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how often specific MRI features indicate autoimmune hepatitis and how consistently different radiologists agree on these features.
  • Two radiologists independently reviewed MRIs from 20 patients, assessing findings like liver enhancement, lymphadenopathy, and fibrosis patterns while measuring their agreement using statistical methods.
  • Results showed high agreement for features like surface nodularity and ascites, but lower agreement for more subjective criteria like the degree of liver fibrosis and enhancement patterns.

Recently, we described synthetic sulfolipids named Sulfavants as a novel class of molecular adjuvants based on the sulfoquinovosyl-diacylglycerol skeleton. The members of this family, Sulfavant A (), Sulfavant R (), and Sulfavant S (), showed important effects on triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2)-induced differentiation and maturation of human dendritic cells (hDC), through a novel cell mechanism underlying the regulation of the immune response. As these molecules are involved in biological TREM2-mediated processes crucial for cell survival, here, we report the synthesis and application of a fluorescent analogue of Sulfavant A bearing the 4,4-difluoro-1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza--indacene moiety (Me-BODIPY).

Immunogenic Cell Death (ICD) represents a mechanism of enhancing T cell-driven response against tumor cells. The process is enabled by release of damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and cytokines by dying cells. Based on molecular studies and clinical marker assessment, ICD can be a new target for cancer chemotherapy hitherto restricted to a few conventional anticancer drugs.

Studies from high endemic areas, mostly China, indicate that surface antigen positive (HBsAg) chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is associated with an increased risk of developing diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), whereas studies in low endemic areas have provided conflicting results. Past infection, serologically defined by negative HBsAg and positive anti-core antibody (HBsAgHBcAb), has also been suggested to increase the risk of B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) in high endemic areas. We retrospectively reviewed unselected clinical records of 253 patients with DLBCL (54% male, aged 60.
