Methods: Quantitative methodology using a cross-sectional design was applied. Chi-square testing was employed for comparative analyses, and logistic regression encompassing univariate and multivariate models was implemented to ascertain the predictors of SOIs.

There is no data on whether the interleukin (IL)-6/IL-23/T helper 17 (IL-6/IL-23/Th17)-axis is more associated with DSCZ than with non-deficit schizophrenia (NDSCZ) and whether changes in this axis are associated with the G-CoDe and the phenome (a factor extracted from all symptom domains) of schizophrenia.

Methods: This study included 45 DSCZ and 45 NDSCZ patients and 40 controls and delineated whether the IL-6/IL-23/Th17 axis, trace elements (copper, zinc) and ions (magnesium, calcium) are associated with DSCZ, the G-CoDe and the schizophrenia phenome.

Waterpipe smoking: Results from a population-based study in Qatar.

Introduction: Waterpipe smoking is common in the Eastern Mediterranean Region and is becoming more prevalent in Qatar. To better plan waterpipe smoking control strategies we aimed to: 1) determine the prevalence of waterpipe smoking and explore its patterns in Qatar; 2) describe the knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to smoking behaviors; 3) recognize locations of waterpipe smoking and symptoms experienced during waterpipe sessions; and 4) evaluate the frequency of waterpipe smoking and the initiation age.

Methods: We analyzed the data of a 7921 population-based survey of adults aged ≥18 years (nationals and expatriates), conducted in Qatar between March and December 2019.

The effects of smoking on COVID-19 are controversial. Some studies show no link between smoking and severe COVID-19, whereas others demonstrate a significant link. This cross-sectional study aims to determine the prevalence of tobacco use among COVID-19 patients, examine the relationship between tobacco use and hospitalized COVID-19 (non-severe and severe), and quantify its risk factors.

Isolated Kimura Disease Presenting as a Brow Mass in a Saudi Male: A Rare Case Report.

This is a case of a 36-year-old male not known to have any medical illness complaining of left upper painless swelling in the eyebrow with no systemic symptoms, and normal physical examination apart from the eyebrow mass. Computed tomography (CT) of the head showed a well-defined hyperdense subcutaneous soft tissue lesion seen at the medial aspect of the left orbit (eyelid-extra orbital). Excisional biopsy of the eyebrow mass was done and sent for histopathological evaluation which reports consistent findings with Kimura disease (KD) as a definitive diagnosis.

Unusual Late Presentation of Capsular Bag Distension Syndrome Associated With Propionibacterium acnes Endophthalmitis.

This report describes an unusually delayed presentation of capsular bag distension syndrome (CBDS), which was found to be associated with Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) endophthalmitis. Our patient presented with a gradual decrease in vision after uneventful cataract surgery done 13 years back.
