Bovine Tuberculosis (bTB), caused by Mycobacterium bovis, is a neglected zoonotic disease primarily associated with cattle. The incidence of bTB is highest in low-income settings with high cattle density and unpasteurised dairy consumption. Smallholder dairy farming has steadily grown in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) with limited professional support for adequate bTB surveillance and risk mitigation.

However, the specific clip model is often unknown for older clips, which poses a problem for individual patient management in clinical care.
Methods: Literature and incident databases were searched, and a survey was performed in the Netherlands that identified time periods at which ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic clip models were implanted.
Measurements of cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) are essential for treatment decisions in moyamoya vasculopathy (MMV). Since MMV patients are often young or cognitively impaired, anesthesia is commonly used to limit motion artifacts. Our aim was to investigate the effect of anesthesia on the CVR in pediatric MMV.

Patients And Methods: In a single-institute cohort of MO patients, 366 TB-MRI examinations, including T1-weighted and STIR images, were performed for screening and follow-up purposes to rule out the malignant transformation, and retrospectively analyzed. In each patient, the presence and location of osteochondromas in the axial and appendicular bones were recorded.
Background: External ventricular drainage (EVD) for acute hydrocephalus after aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) carries a risk of complications. We studied the proportion of patients in whom EVD can be avoided by treating acute hydrocephalus with ≥1 lumbar punctures (LP).
Methods: From a prospectively collected database, we retrieved data on all aSAH patients admitted between 2007 and 2017 who developed acute hydrocephalus (i.
Purpose: To assess the prevalence of intraosseous cartilaginous lesions in patients with multiple osteochondromas based on total-body (TB) MRI examinations, used for screening purposes.
Subjects And Methods: Between 2013 and 2020, TB-MRI examinations were performed in 366 patients with proven multiple osteochondromas syndrome, to rule out malignant progression. For this study, presence, or absence of intraosseous central or eccentrical chondroid lesions, defined as lobulated lesions with low signal intensity on T1-weighted images, replacing bone marrow and high signal intensity equal to fluid on T2-weighted images in the bone marrow of the meta-diaphysis of (one of) the long bones, were recorded in the long bones as part of a TB-MRI protocol.
Background: It remains unclear whether revascularization of moyamoya vasculopathy (MMV) has a positive effect on cognitive function. In this prospective, single-center study, we investigated the effect of revascularization on cognitive function in patients with MMV. We report clinical and radiological outcome parameters and the associations between clinical determinants and change in neurocognitive functioning.

To improve individualized management decisions, we developed risk scores for complications of endovascular and microneurosurgical treatment based on easily retrievable patient, aneurysm, and treatment characteristics.
Methods: For this multicenter cohort study, we combined individual patient data from patients with UIA aged 18 years or older undergoing preventive endovascular treatment (standard, balloon-assisted or stent-assisted coiling, Woven EndoBridge-device, or flow-diverting stent) or microneurosurgical clipping at one of the 10 participating centers from 3 continents between 2000 and 2018.
Although the immunological complexity of the maternal-fetal interface is well appreciated, the actual interaction of maternal immune cells and fetal trophoblasts is insufficiently understood. To comprehend the composition and spatial orientation of maternal immune cells and fetal extravillous trophoblasts, we applied imaging mass cytometry on decidua basalis of the three trimesters of healthy pregnancy. Within all trimesters, we observed considerably higher frequencies of myeloid cells in the decidua than is seen with single-cell suspension techniques.

We evaluated QoL outcomes in patients with and without preventive aneurysm occlusion at multiple time points during the first year after UIA diagnosis and studied predictors of QoL outcomes.
Methods: We performed a prospective cohort study in patients aged ≥18 years with a newly diagnosed UIA in 2 tertiary referral centers in the Netherlands between 2017 and 2019.

The importance of DNA evidence for gaining investigative leads demands a fast workflow for forensic DNA profiling performed in large volumes. Therefore, we developed software solutions for automated DNA profile analysis, contamination check, major donor inference, DNA database (DDB) comparison and reporting of the conclusions. This represents the Fast DNA IDentification Line (FIDL) and this study describes its development, validation and implementation in criminal casework at the authors' institute.

However, the technique remains technically challenging. Therefore, a sutureless ELANA Clip device (SEcl) was developed to simplify the technique avoiding tedious anastomosis stitching in depth.

In this prospective single-center study, the authors investigated the profile of neurocognitive impairment and its relation with the severity of ischemic brain lesions and hemodynamic compromise.
Methods: Patients treated in a Dutch tertiary referral center were prospectively included.

Background: BRI is estimated to occur in 10% of skull-base surgery and 5% of aneurysm surgery. These estimates are based on a few studies with unclear methodology. The purpose of this study is to assess the rate of BRI occurrence, its risk factors, and the association between BRI and postoperative focal neurological deficit in patients that underwent elective aneurysm surgery in a single institution.

It is designed to prevent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage after intradural surgery. This study assessed the safety and biodegradability of Liqoseal in a porcine craniotomy model.

Surgical revascularization is a widely accepted symptomatic treatment, often performed bilaterally in one or two stages. To possibly further optimize treatment strategy, we investigated the effect of unilateral revascularization surgery on the CVR of, and TIA frequency originating from, the contralateral hemisphere.

We investigated patient characteristics, treatment and outcome of patients with MMV. While specific decidual immune cell subsets have been investigated, a system-wide unbiased approach is lacking. Here, mass cytometry was applied for data-driven, in-depth immune profiling of the total leukocyte population isolated from first, second, and third trimester decidua, as well as maternal peripheral blood at time of delivery.

Temporary occlusion of a recipient artery in these patients could result in debilitating neurological deficits. We developed a sutureless, mechanical anastomotic connection device, the SELANA clip (Sutureless Excimer Laser-Assisted Non-occlusive Anastomosis clip: SEcl).

After implantation of the fertilized blastocyst, fetal trophoblasts invade the endometrium and myometrium of the mother's uterus to establish placentation. In this process, fetal trophoblasts encounter maternal immune cells.

Currently, arterial blood pressure is often increased with vasopressors to prevent cerebral ischaemia. However, this might cause vasoconstriction of the graft and cerebral vasculature and decrease perfusion.

However, none of these studies explain the rationale for choosing a particular species, and a systematic interspecies comparison of the dura is not available. We hypothesized that histologic characteristics of the dura would differ among species.
