A comparative analysis of morphological and functional changes in the adrenal glands after embolization of supplying arteries with Lifepearl microspheres (100±25 μm; Terumo) and with a solution of polidocanol (Aethoxysklerol, Kreussler Pharma) was performed in male Vietnamese Lop-Bellied pigs (n=20). The introduction of the microspheres into the arterial bed did not affect the adrenal parenchyma. However, the injection of the liquid sclerosing agent caused foci of productive inflammation leading to the formation of sclerotic tissue and reduction of the volume of glandular tissue.

Background: Acute thrombosis in the system of the inferior vena cava is one of the most common vascular diseases and is of serious danger as a potential source of one of the most severe complications. Aim: To assess a new method of automatic functional image for estimation of maximal systolic longitudinal strain of left ventricular (L) myocardium in patients with sigmoid interventricular septum (IVS) with normal LV ejection fraction.

Material And Methods: Maximal systolic longitudinal strain was compared in patients with sigmoid IVS (SIVS) and in 21 patients of the control group.

Results: Compared to controls, patients with SIVS have significantly greater global longitudinal systolic LV strain in two septal segments in the region of sigmoid-shape IVS.

The present work was undertaken to evaluate a new minimally invasive method of surgical management of varicose disease by means of the TriVex unit. Chalone-like proteoglycans (PG) have been isolated from 22a hepatoma, spontaneous adenocarcinoma of the mammary gland of C3H/He mice and from transplanted X-ray-induced lymphoma in C57Bl mice. It has been found that the biological activity of these PG was considerably weaker than that of PG taken from the liver, mammary gland and spleen of cattle. PG from 22a hepatoma produced a weaker tissue-specific antimitotic effect as against PG from the liver when acting on the liver cells of 6-day C57Bl mice, while the lymphoma PG under these conditions was ineffective.

[Cytogenetic characteristics of the cells of different organs in AKR mice during the development of transplanted lympholeukemia].

[Biological activity of chalone-like proteoglycans during ontogeny].

A chalone-like proteoglycan was isolated from the liver of 2 and 24 month old cattle and Wistar rats which inhibited mitoses in the liver cells of C57BL mice starting from 5-6 days after birth. The effect of this proteoglycan was tissue but not species specific. We failed to isolate this proteoglycan from the liver of newborn rats, thus suggesting that either this substance is not produced by the cells of newborn animals or is produced in insignificant quantities.
