Calcium is a universal messenger in different kingdoms of living organisms and regulates most physiological processes, including defense against pathogens. The threat of viral infections in humans has become very clear in recent years, and this has triggered detailed research into all aspects of host-virus interactions, including the suppression of calcium signaling in infected cells. At the same time, however, the threat of plant viral infections is underestimated in society, and research in the field of calcium signaling during plant viral infections is scarce.

We followed-up a 50-year-old female patient after endoscopic resection of polypoid neoplasm of the stomach for 2 non-organ retroperitoneal neoplasms in the area of hepatogastric ligament. After a comprehensive examination and minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic resection of retroperitoneal neoplasms, immunohistochemical examination, PET-CT and targeted endoscopic ultrasound of the stomach, we diagnosed a highly differentiated gastric neuroendocrine tumor with metastases into lymph nodes of hepatogastric ligament.

Capture Hi-C (CHi-C) is a powerful tool to delineate such regulatory interactions. However, primary analysis and downstream interpretation of CHi-C profiles remains challenging and relies on disparate tools with ad-hoc input/output formats and specific assumptions for statistical modeling.

Objective: To summarize an experience of endoscopy-assisted dilatational tracheostomies in patients with COVID-19.
Material And Methods: There were 31 endoscopy-assisted dilatational tracheostomies in patients with COVID-19 for the period from April 17 to June 10, 2020 (11 women and 19 men). Mean age of patients was 66.
Purpose: Variance-based sensitivity analysis (SA) is described and applied to the radiation dosimetry model proposed by the Committee on Medical Internal Radiation Dose (MIRD) for the organ-level absorbed dose calculations in nuclear medicine. The uncertainties in the dose coefficients thus calculated are also evaluated.
Methods: A Monte Carlo approach was used to compute first-order and total-effect SA indices, which rank the input factors according to their influence on the uncertainty in the output organ doses.
The feasibility of reducing the differences between patient-specific internal doses and doses estimated using reference phantoms was evaluated. Relatively simple adjustments to a polygon-surface ICRP adult male reference phantom were applied to fit selected individual dimensions using the software Rhinoceros®4.0.

Personalised pharmacokinetic models were constructed based on clinical PET/CT images from five healthy volunteers and blood samples from four of them. Following an identifiability analysis of the developed compartmental models, person-specific model parameters were estimated using the commercial program SAAM II.

No complications of surgery were noted in all the patients. The postoperative period was marked by sustained clinical and hematological remission that made it possible to discontinue prednisolone therapy and to ensure an uncomplicated course of pregnancy and labor.

We found that Arabidopsis plants infected with Cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) or transgenic for CaMV silencing suppressor P6 exhibit increased susceptibility to Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato (Pst) and allow robust growth of the Pst mutant hrcC-, which cannot deploy effectors to suppress innate immunity.

Differential diagnostics of papillospasm and papillostenosis should be based on the complex of clinical and instrumental researches with the priority to endoscopic technologies. Conservative therapy should be considered as optimal option of treatment for the patients with papillospasm. Preference of endoscopic operations have to be in case of revealed papillostenosis of different degree.

Virus-derived siRNAs inhibit viral replication in infected cells and potentially move to neighboring cells, immunizing them from incoming virus. Viruses have evolved various ways to evade and suppress siRNA production or action.

In the scientific literature, there is a lack of their in vivo toxicity characterization and virtually no attempts of enhancing organism's resistance to their impact. A stable suspension of copper oxide particles with mean (±SD) diameter 20±10 nm was prepared by laser ablation of pure copper in water.

Subjects And Methods: Nine women with APL were treated in 1998-2013. When APL was diagnosed in the first trimester of pregnancy, the latter was terminated (n = 1); when its diagnosis was made in the second trimester, chemotherapy (CT) followed by delivery (D) was performed (n = 3); when it was done in the third trimester, D followed by CT was done in relation to gestational age (n = 2) or these were performed at a later gestational age (n = 1).
The frontline of plant defense against non-viral pathogens such as bacteria, fungi and oomycetes is provided by transmembrane pattern recognition receptors that detect conserved pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), leading to pattern-triggered immunity (PTI). To counteract this innate defense, pathogens deploy effector proteins with a primary function to suppress PTI. In specific cases, plants have evolved intracellular resistance (R) proteins detecting isolate-specific pathogen effectors, leading to effector-triggered immunity (ETI), an amplified version of PTI, often associated with hypersensitive response (HR) and programmed cell death (PCD).

In Arabidopsis infected with the bipartite circular DNA geminivirus Cabbage leaf curl virus (CaLCuV), four distinct DCLs produce 21, 22 and 24 nt viral siRNAs. Using deep sequencing and blot hybridization, we found that viral siRNAs of each size-class densely cover the entire viral genome sequences in both polarities, but highly abundant siRNAs correspond primarily to the leftward and rightward transcription units.

While the primary purpose of the Agreements is to provide educational opportunities for young medical physicists, the Agreements also contemplate holding joint sessions at scientific congresses. The purpose of this professional AAPM/SEFM/AMPR Joint Symposium is to explore the challenges that medical physicists in the three countries face when new external beam radiotherapy technologies are introduced in their facilities and to suggest potential solutions to limitations in testing equipment and lack of familiarity with protocols.

Here, we show that following miR173 cleavage the entire polyadenylated parts of Arabidopsis TAS1a/b/c and TAS2 transcripts are converted by RDR6 to double-stranded (ds)RNAs. Additionally, shorter dsRNAs are produced following a second cleavage directed by a TAS1c-derived siRNA.

To assess whether stress-induced ncRNAs may suppress the nuclear export of mRNA, we exploited the ability of Agrobacterium tumefaciens to co-deliver Pol I, II and III promoter-based vectors for the transcription of short (s) ncRNAs, GFP mRNA or genomic RNA of plant viruses (Tobacco mosaic virus, TMV; or Potato virus X, PVX) into the nucleus of Nicotiana benthamiana cells. We showed that, in contrast to Pol I- and Pol III-derived sncRNAs, all tested Pol II-derived sncRNAs (U6 RNA, tRNA or artificial RNAs) resulted in decreased expression of GFP and host mRNA.

Thus, tuberculosis (TB) ESAT6 antigen was expressed in different plant systems, but the level of vaccine protein accumulation was extremely low. We describe the technology for superexpression of TB vaccine proteins (Ag85B, ESAT6, and ESAT6:Ag85B fusion) in plant leaves which involves: (i) construction of tobacco mosaic virus-based vectors with the coat protein genes substituted by those for TB antigens; (ii) Agrobacterium-mediated delivery to plant leaf tissues of binary vectors containing the cDNA copy of the vector virus genome; and (iii) replication of virus vectors in plant cells under conditions suppressing the virus-induced gene silencing.

A new potato virus X (PVX)-based viral vector for superproduction of target proteins in plants has been constructed. The triple gene block and coat protein gene of PVX were substituted by green fluorescent protein. This reduced viral vector was delivered into plant cells by agroinjection (injection of Agrobacterium tumefaciens cells, carrying viral vector cDNA within T-DNA, into plant leaves), and this approach allowed to dramatically reduce the size of the vector genome.
