This article describes GaN/AlN heterostructures for ultraviolet-C (UVC) emitters with multiple (up to 400 periods) two-dimensional (2D)-quantum disk/quantum well structures with the same GaN nominal thicknesses of 1.5 and 16 ML-thick AlN barrier layers, which were grown by plasma-assisted molecular-beam epitaxy in a wide range of gallium and activated nitrogen flux ratios (Ga/N*) on -sapphire substrates. An increase in the Ga/N* ratio from 1.

Monolayer (ML)-scale GaN/AlN multiple quantum well (MQW) structures for electron-beam-pumped ultraviolet (UV) emitters are grown on -sapphire substrates by using plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy under controllable metal-rich conditions, which provides the spiral growth of densely packed atomically smooth hillocks without metal droplets. These structures have ML-stepped terrace-like surface topology in the entire QW thickness range from 0.75-7 ML and absence of stress at the well thickness below 2 ML.

In this paper we analyze the performance of QUIC as a transport alternative for Internet of Things (IoT) services based on the Message Queuing Telemetry Protocol (MQTT). QUIC is a novel protocol promoted by Google, and was originally conceived to tackle the limitations of the traditional Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), specifically aiming at the reduction of the latency caused by connection establishment. QUIC use in IoT environments is not widespread, and it is therefore interesting to characterize its performance when in over such scenarios.

Leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin 2 (Lect2) is a chemokine-like chemotactic factor that has been identified as a downstream target of the Wnt signalling pathway. Whilst the primary function of Lect2 is thought to be in modulating the inflammatory process, it has recently been implicated as a potential inhibitor of the Wnt pathway. Deregulation of the Wnt pathway, often due to loss of the negative regulator , is found in ~80% of colorectal cancer (CRC).

The combination of Low Intensity Laser Therapy and Photodynamic Therapy constitutes a minimal invasive and highly selective alternative for the treatment of skin tumors. Photodynamic effectiveness, specially the absence of recurrence, highly depends on the type of tumor, as well as on several parameters such as those related with the optical source. Therefore it is important to have predictive tools to provide an appropriate treatment planning.

The objective of tailoring medicines for cancer patients according to the molecular profile of their disease holds great promise for the improvement of cancer therapy. Nevertheless, this approach has been limited, in part, due to the lack of predictive and informative preclinical studies. Herein, we describe an assessment of the therapeutic potential of targeting PI3K/mTOR and MAPK signaling in genetically defined mouse models of colorectal cancer mirroring disease subtypes targeted for novel therapy in the FOCUS4 trial.

We show that the merging of the spin- and valley-split Landau levels at the chemical potential is an intrinsic property of a strongly interacting two-dimensional electron system in silicon. Evidence for the level merging is given by available experimental data.

We examine the problem of finite Fermi systems having a degenerate single-particle spectrum and show that the Landau approach, applied to such a system, admits the possibility of merging single-particle levels. It is demonstrated that the opportunity for this behavior is widespread in quantum many-body systems. The salient feature of the phenomenon is the occurrence of nonintegral quasiparticle occupation numbers, leading to a radical alteration of the standard quasiparticle picture.

Low-temperature thermodynamic properties of strongly interacting Fermi liquids with a fermion condensate are investigated. We demonstrate that the spin susceptibility of these systems exhibits the Curie-Weiss law, and the entropy contains a temperature-independent term. The excessive entropy is released at the superconducting transition, enhancing the specific heat jump deltaC and rendering it proportional to the effective Curie constant.

Trans-translation, the unique process of the synthesis of the single polipeptide chain from both mRNA and the coding part of tmRNA, is necessary for the cell viability in the changeable environment. The new data concerning the main participants and physiological role of trans-translation and the conditions in which it occurs are summarized. The possible tmRNA function in the translation quality control is also discussed.

A new scenario for neutron-star cooling is suggested by the correspondence between pion condensation, induced by critical spin-isospin fluctuations, and the metal-insulator phase transition in a 2D electron gas. Above the threshold density for pion condensation, the neutron single-particle spectrum acquires an insulating gap that quenches neutron contributions to neutrino production. In the liquid phase just below the transition, the fluctuations play dual roles by (i) creating a multisheeted neutron Fermi surface that extends to low momenta and activates the normally forbidden direct Urca cooling mechanism, and (ii) amplifying the nodeless P-wave neutron superfluid gap while suppressing S-wave pairing.

The phase transitions in a realistic system with triplet pairing, dense neutron matter, have been investigated. The spectrum of phases of the 3P2-3F2 model, which adequately describes pairing in this system, is analytically constructed with the aid of a separation method for solving BCS gap equations in states of arbitrary angular momentum. In addition to solutions involving a single value of the magnetic quantum number (and its negative), there exist ten real multicomponent solutions.

It is proposed that a rearrangement of single-particle degrees of freedom may occur in a portion of the quantum-fluid interior of a neutron star. Such a rearrangement is associated with the pronounced softening of the spin-isospin collective mode which, under increasing density, leads to pion condensation. Arguments and estimates based on fundamental relations of many-body theory show that one realization of this phenomenon could produce very rapid cooling of the star via a direct nucleon Urca process displaying a T5 dependence on temperature.

Patients with breast tumors, stage IIb-IIIb, received complex treatment including radiation therapy, radical surgery and polychemotherapy. Some of them were also injected 4-40 doses of leukinferon, im, for immunocorrection. The latter treatment carried out during radiotherapy and preparation for surgery prevented lymphopenia development.

At present the problem of bladder injuries and methods of their therapy are very urgent in view of a wide use of radiation therapy of cancer of the uterine body, bladder and rectum. None of the existing methods of therapy of local radiation cystitis is sufficiently effective. To obtain better therapeutic results and immobilized trypsin preparation on a powder-like cellulose matrix was used.
