Cancer is considered one of the deadliest diseases globally, and continuous research is being carried out to find novel potential therapies for myriad cancer types that affect the human body. Researchers are hunting for innovative remedies to minimize the toxic effects of conventional therapies being driven by cancer, which is emerging as pivotal causes of mortality worldwide. Cancer progression steers the formation of heterogeneous behavior, including self-sustaining proliferation, malignancy, and evasion of apoptosis, tissue invasion, and metastasis of cells inside the tumor with distinct molecular features.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is a heritable neurodegenerative disease of peripheral nervous system diseases in which more than 100 genes and their mutations are associated. Two consanguineous families Dera Ghazi Khan (PAK-CMT1-DG KHAN) and Layyah (PAK-CMT2-LAYYAH) with multiple CMT-affected subjects were enrolled from Punjab province in Pakistan. Basic epidemiological data were collected for the subjects.

Nitric Oxide (NO) signaling pathway plays a vital role in various physiological and pathophysiological processes including vasodilation, neurogenesis, inflammation, translation and protein regulation. NO signaling pathway is associated with various diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, vision impairment, hypertension and Alzheimer's disease. Human Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase (eNOS) bound with calcium regulatory protein (calmodulin (CaM)) to produce NO which initiates cGMP pathway.

Human papilloma virus (HPV) causes cervical and many other cancers. Recent trend in vaccine design is shifted toward epitope-based developments that are more specific, safe, and easy to produce. In this study, we predicted eight immunogenic peptides of CD4+ and CD8+ T-lymphocytes (MHC class I and II as M1 and M2) including early proteins (E2 and E6), major (L1) and minor capsid protein (L2).

Article Synopsis
  • * Fundus examination and OCT imaging showed eye issues such as myopia and macular atrophy, with significant findings of retinal damage linked to the CNGA3 mutations.
  • * The study identified three specific harmful variants in the CNGA3 gene, suggesting these could help in genetic counseling and improving understanding of cone dystrophies.

Melanin pigment helps protect our body from broad wavelength solar radiation and skin cancer. Among other pigmentation disorders in humans, albinism is reported to manifest in both syndromic and nonsyndromic forms as well as with varying inheritance patterns. Oculocutaneous albinism (OCA), an autosomal recessive nonsyndromic form of albinism, presents as partial to complete loss of melanin in the skin, hair, and iris.

Significant number out of 2.2 billion vision impairments in the world can be attributed to genetics. The current study is aimed to decipher the genetic basis of Leber congenital Amaurosis (LCA), Anterior Segment dysgenesis (ASD), and Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), segregating in four large consanguineous Pakistani families.

Purpose: Primary congenital glaucoma (PCG) is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous disease. The present study was undertaken to find the genetic causes of PCG segregating in 36 large consanguineous Pakistani families.

Methods: Ophthalmic examination including fundoscopy, or slit-lamp microscopy was performed to clinically characterize the PCG phenotype.
