Saturated heterocyclic acetals are useful fragments in organic synthesis and other fields. Herein, C(sp)-H dehydrogenative cross-couplings of ethers, tetrahydrothiophenes, and pyrrolidines were achieved under visible light irradiation by using iodobenzene and an in situ-formed gold complex. The broad functional group compatibility and substrate scope indicate that our strategy is a promising way to synthesize acetal analogues.

Metal selenides have attracted increased attention as promising electrode materials for electrochemical energy storage and conversion systems including metal-ion batteries and water splitting. However, their practical application is greatly hindered by collapse of the microstructure, thus leading to performance fading. Tuning the structure at nanoscale of these materials is an effective strategy to address the issue.
