Silver carp mediated biological control techniques are often advocated for controlling cyanobacteria blooms in eutrophic water, which are often enriched with arsenic (As). However, the transfer and fate of As during the biological control of cyanobacteria blooms by silver carp in As-rich eutrophic water remain unclear. Based on the simulated ecosystem experiment, the accumulation of As in silver carp and the transfer and fate of As in the water-algae-silver carp system during Microcystis aeruginosa blooms controlled by silver carp were investigated.

Analysis of dissolved organic matter (DOM) composition and microbial characteristics is crucial for tracing the sources of rural black and odorous water bodies (BOWB). The aim of this study was to explore the DOM and microbial diversity and identify the primary environmental factors in BOWB from various pollution sources during different periods using EEMs-PARAFAC and Illumina sequencing. It was found that the physicochemical properties vary widely across different pollution types of BOWB, with higher overall content during the high-water period compared to the normal-water period.

Accurate monitoring of intracellular pH in living cells is critical for developing a better understanding of cellular activities. In the current study, label-free carbon dots (p-CDs), which were fabricated using a straightforward one-pot solvothermal treatment of p-phenylenediamine and urea, were employed to create a new ratiometric pH nanosensor. In this work, an FeO/Cu/CuO (FC) antibacterial nano-agent was synthesized in a "one-pot" approach using copper sulfate and ferric chloride as raw materials, and it was studied using TEM, XRD, XPS, UV-vis, and VSM methods. The antibacterial activity and mechanism of FC were studied, using a commercially available Bordeaux mixture as a control. The effects of an FC on mung bean development and its toxicity to human mammary epithelial cells were also investigated.

In order to understand the present situation of rice fertilization and the existing problems in the farmers' nutrient resources input in the Qin-Ba mountainous area of southern Shaanxi, the survey data from 2854 households in 11 counties of this area in the project "soil testing and formulated fertilization in 2006-2009" were analyzed and evaluated, and the countermeasures for the existing problems in the farmers' nutrient resources input were proposed. In the study area, the average rice yield was 7822 kg x hm(-2) per year, and the ratio of the households obtained the medium level yield was up to 50.9%.
