Article Synopsis
  • Salt stress significantly impacts canola growth, delaying important developmental stages and reducing biomass and seed yield.
  • High soil salt conditions lead to a decrease in nitrogen (N) and carbon (C) accumulation, disrupting their balance, particularly affecting C assimilation more severely.
  • The adverse effects of high salt concentration include lower photosynthesis rates, reduced leaf area, and decreased nutrient efficiency, ultimately leading to lower overall canola productivity.

Background: Recent studies have shown that the activation of PI3K/AKT signaling pathway is an essential molecular mechanism participating in trastuzumab resistance in HER2 + GC (gastric cancer). However, how can we effectively inhibit AKT activity associated with drug resistance during trastuzumab treatment? Screening inhibitors against the upstream receptors of PI3K/AKT signaling pathway or interacting proteins of members has become an important way.

Methods: In this study, western blot, qRT-PCR, CCK8, Co-IP and other techniques were used to explore possible mechanisms participating in trastuzumab resistance in vitro.

Biodegradable mulch film (BDM) is considered as an environmentally sustainable alternative to low density polyethylene (LDPE) mulch film. However, the low degradation rate of BDM resulted in residues in soil after service period which were similar to LDPE mulch film. Distinguishing the differential responses of crop growth, soil bacteria and metabolism to residues of BDM and LDPE mulch films is favourable for comparing the environmental toxicities of the two materials.

Tumor chemoresistance is often a major cause for the failure of chemotherapy. The resistance of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells to sorafenib significantly limits its therapeutic effect in HCC patients. For the first time, we found that FXYD domain-containing ion transport regulator 5 (FXYD5) is highly expressed in sorafenib-resistant HCC cells.

Tumor recurrence and metastasis is the leading cause of mortality for postoperative breast cancer patients. However, chemotherapy intervention after surgery is often unsatisfactory, because residual microtumors are difficult to target and require frequent administration. Here, an all-in-one and once-for-all drug depot based on -formed hydrogel was applied to fit the irregular surgical trauma, and enable direct contact with residual tumors and sustained drug release.

High-intensity urban development and economic exploitation have led to the fragmentation and isolation of regional habitat patches, and biodiversity is under serious threat. Scientific identification and effective optimization of ecological networks are essential for maintaining and restoring regional ecosystem connectivity and guiding sustainable socio-economic development. Taking the mountainous areas of southwest Hubei Province (MASHP) in central China as an example, this study first developed a new integrated approach to identify ecological sources based on a quantitative assessment of ecosystem services and the morphological spatial pattern analysis (MSPA) method; it then used the Linkage Mapper tool to extract ecological corridors, applied the principle of hydrological analysis to identify ecological nodes, evaluated each ecological element to quantify its importance, and finally constructed the ecological network and further proposed some optimization countermeasures.
