- The study assesses the prevalence of serous otitis media (SOM) in school-age children from rural Konya, Turkey, involving 2,352 children over four months.
- Findings show an overall SOM prevalence of 4.6%, peaking at 11.2% in four-year-olds and 11.1% in six-year-olds, with higher rates in males (6.17%) compared to females (3.16%).
- The study concludes that SOM prevalence is lower than reported in other literature and suggests the need for better preventive and therapeutic strategies in primary health care.
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors are uncommon neoplasms that arise out of Schwann cells from the peripheral nerves, which rarely occur in the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity. Especially with the increasing long-term survival of patients with nasopharynx carcinoma, second primary cancers can be diagnosed. Second primary cancers are not uncommon in patients with the prior radiation therapy.
