Effect of Epidermoid Cysts on the Efficacy of Intralesional Corticosteroid Therapy for Hypertrophic Scars and Keloids: A Prospective Pilot Study.

Background: Patients with hypertrophic scars (HSs) or keloids occasionally have epidermoid cysts (ECs), and the effect of ECs on the effectiveness of intralesional corticosteroids (ILCs) treatment in these patients has not been reported.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the influence of ECs on the outcomes of ILCs treatment in patients with HSs or keloids.

Materials And Methods: This prospective study included 572 patients with keloids ( n = 461) or HSs ( n = 111).

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy With Chymotrypsin Irrigation: A Maximal Implant Retention Procedure Treating the Exposure/Infection of Titanium Mesh in Cranioplasty.

This preliminary study aims to investigate the effects of a maximal implant retention procedure. The authors retrospectively reviewed the use of negative pressure wound therapy with chymotrypsin irrigation treating implant infection/exposure in titanium mesh cranioplasty by comparing patients with titanium mesh totally retained, partially removed, or totally removed according to the evaluation during the surgery. Negative pressure wound therapy with chymotrypsin irrigation was applied 5 days after the surgery.

Clinical efficacy of propranolol in the treatment of hemangioma and changes in serum VEGF, bFGF and MMP-9.

The aim of this study was to observe the clinical efficacy and safety of propranolol in the treatment of hemangioma, and to reveal its possible mechanism. A total of 129 cases of proliferative hemangioma were divided into two groups: i) Treatment (n=97), in which the patients received oral propranolol therapy and ii) observation (n=32), in which the patients underwent clinical observation. The changes in the hemangiomas were noted and compared between the two groups.
