We suggest a new method for postsynthesis modification of silicones containing silanol groups. It was found that trimethylborate is an effective catalyst for dehydrative condensation of silanol groups with the formation of ladder-like blocks. The utility of this approach was demonstrated on postsynthesis modification of poly-( poly(dimethylsiloxane)- ladder-like poly(phenylsiloxane)) and poly-( poly((3,3',3″-trifluoropropyl-methyl)siloxane)- ladder-like poly(phenylsiloxane) with a combination of linear and ladder-like blocks having silanol groups.

The global and local climate changes determine the producing of highly-adaptive common (bread) wheat commercial cultivars of a new generation whose optimal earliness matches the climatic features of the territory where the cultivars are farmed. Principal component analysis involving our own and published data has been applied to investigate 98 commercial common wheat cultivars from Western and Eastern Siberia comparing their morphotypes; cultivar zoning time; length of the vegetation period; 1000-grain weight, and inheritance of spring growth habit. It demonstrated that the dominant Vrn gene polymorphism determining the spring growth habit of the Siberian cultivars was minimally polymorphic.

H spin-diffusion solid-state NMR was utilized to elucidate the domain size in multiblock-copolymers (BCPs) poly-( poly(dimethylsiloxane)- ladder-like poly(phenylsiloxane)) and poly-( poly((3,3',3″-trifluoropropyl-methyl)siloxane)- ladder-like poly(phenylsiloxane). It was found that these BCPs form worm-like morphology with rigid cylinders dispersed in amorphous matrix. By using the combination of solid-state NMR techniques such as C CP/MAS, C direct-polarization MAS and 2D H EXSY, it was shown that the main factor which governs the diameter value of these rigid domains is the presence of interpenetrating segments of soft blocks.

Multiblock copolymers containing linear polydimethylsiloxane or polymethyltrifluoropropylsiloxane and ladder-like polyphenylsiloxane were synthesized in a one-step pathway. The functional homopolymer blocks and final multiblock copolymers were characterized using solution and solid-state multinuclear H, C, F, and Si NMR spectroscopy. It was shown that the ladder-like block contains silanol units, which influence the adhesion properties of multiblock copolymers and morphology of their casted films.

A set of aromatic-oxyaliphatic polyurethanes (PUs) with different mass fractions of components also containing fluorinated fragments was synthesized and studied using various solid-state NMR techniques and dielectric spectroscopy. In contrast to the common model suggested by Cooper and Tobolsky in 1966, the rigid domains of microphase separated PUs are formed, not only by units containing urethane bonds, but also by oxyethylene fragments that form a common rigid phase. The urethane bonds and oxyethylene fragments are incorporated into both rigid and soft phases.

The review presents the current state of the problem of prions and prion diseases with an emphasis on theepidemiological and epizootological risks of pathogens that cause fatal neurodegenerative diseases in humans and animals. The results of molecular genetic studies of the conversion of normal PrP prion protein molecules to infectious forms of PrP, resistance to physical disinfection methods, in particular exceptional thermal stability, and their ability to overcome interspecific barriers, while increasing virulence, are described. The possibility of infection not only by nutrition, when eating even heat-treated meat of sick animals, but also due to surgical interventions, especially neurosurgical and ophthalmic, as well as the use of immunobiological preparations, are emphasized.

We compared the expression of Aβ42 peptide, τ-protein, and α-synuclein in the substantia nigra and skin fibroblasts of elderly and senile patients with Parkinson's disease and subjects without neuropathology. Expression of markers in the studied tissues was assessed by immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical methods. The expression of Aβ42 peptide, τ-protein, and α-synuclein in the substantia nigra of elderly and senile patients with Parkinson's disease was higher by 11-31 times than in subjects without neuropathology.

The expression of Aβ42, and τ-protein, and p16 and p53 proteins was analyzed in the buccal epithelium of elderly and senile patients with Alzheimer's disease. We revealed enhanced synthesis of Alzheimer's disease markers Aβ42 (by 15-30 times) and τ-protein (by 5 times) in comparison with the corresponding values in people without neurodegenerative pathology of the same age groups. In addition, increased synthesis of proteins of cell aging and apoptosis p16 (by 6-10 times) and p53 (by 2-3 times) was observed in patients in comparison with age-matched persons without neuropathology.

Multilayer capsules of 4 microns in size made of biodegradable polymers and iron oxide magnetite nanoparticles have been injected intravenously into rats. We present a calibration function in the general analytical form for the tropospheric temperature retrievals using pure rotational Raman (PRR) lidars. The function is derived within the framework of the semiclassical theory and takes into account the collisional broadening of all PRR lines. We analyze via simulation its four simplest nonlinear (three-coefficient) special cases to determine the function that yields the least error, and therefore, is the best-suited for the temperature retrievals.

Magnetic fluid-loaded liposomes (MFLs) were fabricated using magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) and natural phospholipids via the thin film hydration method followed by extrusion. The size distribution and composition of MFLs were studied using dynamic light scattering and spectrophotometry. The effective ranges of magnetite concentration in MNPs hydrosol and MFLs for contrasting at both T2 and T1 relaxation were determined.

In 2010, the Russian Federation (RF) registered palivizumab--innovative drug, based on monoclonal antibodies for passive immunization of seasonal respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in children of disease severe progress risk group, which include primarily premature infants, children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia and hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease. Currently, palivizumab is included in the list of recommended medicines and medical care standards of different countries, including Russia. In the review the results of Russian research on the progress of RSV infection, its epidemiology and immunization experience gained over the 2010-2014 period are summarized in relation to the foreign data.
