Background: Research suggest that personality traits influence the mood and somatic symptoms in various different clinical populations. Neuroticism, extraversion, conscientiousness, openness to experience, and agreeableness have been identified as potential predictors of mood and somatic symptoms. However, the literature on personality traits and symptom outcomes in multiple sclerosis (MS) is limited, highlighting the necessity for more in-depth research.

Treatment Patterns and Attrition in Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma: Real-Life Experience from the Turkish Oncology Group Kidney Cancer Consortium (TKCC) Database.

Introduction: Despite the rapid evolution in management of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) over the past decade, challenges remain in accessing new therapies in some parts of the world. Despite therapeutic advancements, attrition rates remain persistently high. This study aims to assess the treatment patterns and attrition rates of patients with mRCC in oncology clinics across Turkey.

Predicting the molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular toxicity induced by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances: an In Silico network toxicology perspective.

Background: Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are human-made chemicals that accumulate in the human body and the environment over time. Humans are primarily exposed to PFAS through drinking water, food, consumer products, and dust. These exposures can have many adverse health effects, including cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and factors contributing to CVDs.

Immunological facets of prostate cancer and the potential of immune checkpoint inhibition in disease management.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common non-cutaneous cancer in men and a major cause of cancer-related deaths. Whereas localized PCa can be cured by surgery and radiotherapy, metastatic disease can be treated, but is not curable. Inhibition of androgen signaling remains the main therapeutic intervention for treatment of metastatic PCa, in addition to chemotherapy, radionuclide therapy and emerging targeted therapies.

New targets and biomarkers for doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in humans: implications drawn from toxicogenomic data and molecular modelling.

The doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity continues to be a life-threatening adverse effect in the clinic. Doxorubicin-induced acute cardiotoxicity is reversible, whereas chronic cardiotoxicity is irreversible, leading to dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure. The aim of this study was to identify the molecular mechanisms associated with doxorubicin metabolites in doxorubicin-induced chronic cardiotoxicity.

Salvage Treatment for Extragonadal Germ Cell Tumours: High-Dose Chemotherapy and Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation Outcomes-A Single-Centre Experience.

Extragonadal germ cell tumours have a more unfavourable prognosis than gonadal germ cell tumours. We aimed to evaluate the survival analysis, response rates, and factors affecting responses to high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT) and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) in patients with relapsed/refractory extragonadal germ cell tumours. This study included patients diagnosed with extragonadal germ cell tumours who underwent HDCT + ASCT between November 2016 and January 2023 at Gülhane Training and Research Hospital.

Oncologic outcomes and trends in each colon cancer location and stages over the last two decades: insights from the SEER registry.

Background: The main purpose of the study is to comprehensively evaluate population-level survival disparities stage-by-stage, according to specific anatomical colon segments, and based on prognosis as defined by lymph nodes among patients who have undergone curative resection for non-metastatic colon cancer.

Methods: The study was conducted from the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Result (SEER) program from the USA. Patients who underwent surgery for colon adenocarcinoma between 2000 and 2019 were identified.

Targeting IRE1α reprograms the tumor microenvironment and enhances anti-tumor immunity in prostate cancer.

Unfolded protein response (UPR) is a central stress response pathway that is hijacked by tumor cells for their survival. Here, we find that IRE1α signaling, one of the canonical UPR arms, is increased in prostate cancer (PCa) patient tumors. Genetic or small molecule inhibition of IRE1α in syngeneic mouse PCa models and an orthotopic model decreases tumor growth.

Discovery of New Pyrazole-Tosylamide Derivatives as Apoptosis Inducers Through BCL-2 Inhibition and Caspase-3 Activation.

In this presented study, a series of new carbonitrile-substituted pyrazole-tosyl amide derivatives were designed and synthesized according to previous studies. The antiproliferative effects of the synthesized compounds on MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, HepG2, PC-3, and A549 cancer cell lines were assessed by MTT assay compared with non-cancerous cells. The results demonstrate that compounds 9d, 9e, and 9f had a higher antiproliferative effect (IC <10 μM) against both breast cancer cells.

Investigating the crystallinity of hard candies prepared and stored at different temperatures with low field-NMR relaxometry.

Background: In this study, hard candies were produced by using sucrose, glucose syrup and water. They were cooked at different temperatures, changing from 135 to 145 °C with an interval of 2.5 °C.

Recent studies suggest that immunological and inflammatory responses in cardiovascular disorders, such as hypertension, myocardial infarction, ischemia injury, heart failure, arrhythmias, and atherosclerosis, may be affected by changes in the adenosine system. Pharmacological modulation of adenosine occurs through its receptor subtypes. In numerous preclinical studies, the activation of adenosine receptor 2A (AR) or the blockade of adenosine receptor 2B (AR) has shown promising results against cardiovascular diseases.

Bisphenol AF (BPAF) is increasingly used and now found in products intended for human consumption. The protective effect of 1,8-cineole (CIN) against BPAF-induced reproductive toxicity was investigated. Four groups were created, with each group consisting of eight rats: control, BPAF (200 mg/kg), CIN (200 mg/kg), and BPAF + CIN groups.

Validity and Reliability of the Timed 360° Turn Test in Individuals with Ankle Sprain.

Background: The Timed 360° turn test (T-360° TT) was developed to assess balance and turning ability. Although validity and reliability have been performed in different diseases, validity and reliability have not been performed in individuals with ankle sprain (AS).

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability of the T-360° TT in individuals with AS.

The production of hard candy requires heating of the ingredients to very high temperatures to reduce moisture content and subsequent cooling to obtain a solid matrix.

A high throughput cell stretch device for investigating mechanobiology .

Mechanobiology is a rapidly advancing field, with growing evidence that mechanical signaling plays key roles in health and disease. To accelerate mechanobiology-based drug discovery, novel systems are needed that enable mechanical perturbation of cells in a format amenable to high throughput screening. Here, both a mechanical stretch device and 192-well silicone flexible linear stretch plate were designed and fabricated to meet high throughput technology needs for cell stretch-based applications.

Exploring new 5-Nitroimidazole Derivatives as Potent Acetylcholinesterase and Butyrylcholinesterase Enzyme Inhibitors.

Discovering new compounds capable of inhibiting physiologically and metabolically significant drug targets or enzymes is of paramount importance in biological chemistry. With this aim, new 5-nitroimidazole derivatives (1-4) were designed and synthesized, and their inhibitory activities against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) were discovered using acetyl (butyryl) thiocholine and Ellman's reagents for spectrophotometric assay. The inhibitory profiles of the synthesized compounds were assessed by comparing their IC and K values.

The Role of High Dose Chemotherapy with Autologous Hematopoietic Cell Transplant in Relapsed/Refractory Ovarian Germ Cell Tumors: A Single Center Experience.

Objective: We aimed to investigate response rates, survival analyses and factors affecting survival in patients with relapsed or refractory ovarian germ cell tumours who had previously received multiple lines of treatment, including high-dose chemotherapy (HDC) and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT).

Methods: This study was designed as a cross-sectional, retrospective study.

Results: Twenty-one patients were included.

However, comprehensive investigations of the different motor abilities and the changes thereof across the adult lifespan remain sparse. We, therefore, extensively assessed essential basic and complex motor functions in 444 healthy adults covering a wide age range (range 21 to 88 years).

Association between Systolic Pulmonary Artery Pressure and Contrast-Induced Nephropathy in Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to examine whether there is an elevated risk of developing contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) in patients with high systolic pulmonary artery pressure (SPAP) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Methods: A total of 213 patients diagnosed with STEMI and who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention were enrolled in the study. The patients were stratified into two groups based on the presence of CIN.
