Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare retinal and optic disc functions as well as vascular structures in dominant eyes (DE) and non-dominant eyes (NDE) among healthy adults using pattern electroretinogram (PERG), optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) tests.
Methods: Seventy-two eyes of 36 healthy subjects with bilateral visual acuity of 1.0 were included.
Purpose: Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common causes of death among females. Cancer cells escape from apoptosis, causing the cells to proliferate uncontrollably. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to regulate apoptosis in cancer cells.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTriple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer, lacking common treatment targets such as estrogen (ER), progesterone (PR), and HER2 receptors. This subtype is associated with significant heterogeneity, chemoresistance, early recurrence, metastasis, and poor patient survival. FOXM1 is a cancer-promoting transcription factor that plays a critical role in TNBC and other highly aggressive cancers by driving cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and drug resistance.

Introduction: This report describes a rare occurrence of corneal epithelial keratopathy associated with ribociclib, a cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 (CDK4/6) inhibitor widely used in breast cancer treatment.
Case Report: An 83-year-old female with a recent breast cancer diagnosis presented with blurred vision during the third cycle of ribociclib treatment. Ocular examination revealed corneal epitheliopathy and fluorescein staining findings.
The oncogenic transcription factor FOXM1 overexpressed in breast and other solid cancers, is a key driver of tumor growth and progression through complex interactions, making it an attractive molecular target for the development of targeted therapies. Despite the availability of small-molecule inhibitors, their limited specificity, potency, and efficacy hinder clinical translation. To identify effective FOXM1 inhibitors, we synthesized novel benzothiazole derivatives (KC10-KC13) and benzothiazole hybrids with thiazolidine-2,4-dione (KC21-KC36).

Methods: Seventy-six eyes of 38 diabetic patients and age- and gender-matched control subjects were included in the study. The foveal avascular zone (FAZ), whole, foveal, parafoveal and perifoveal vascular densities of the superficial capillary plexus (SCP), deep capillary plexus (DCP) and choriocapillary plexus (CCP) layers were analyzed using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is a common endocrine cancer with a good prognosis. Radioactive iodine is thought to be useful for individuals who have had a total or almost total thyroidectomy, but its effects are still controversial. The effects of radioactive iodine-131 (I-131) treatment on oxidative and chromosomal damage in PTC patients were examined in this study, which was carried out with 16 patients newly diagnosed with PTC and 20 healthy control subjects with similar age and gender.

Material And Methods: This cross-sectional study of 140 CSP patients was conducted between January and October 2023. The patients were separated into groups according to the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score as group 1 (score<3, n=27), group 2 (score: 3-6, n=84), and group 3 (score>6, n=29).
Introduction: the multifaceted nature of food craving mirrors the complexity underlying the development of eating disorders. Objectives: the study aimed to investigate the impact of a 6-week dietary and lifestyle intervention on food cravings, eating behaviors, and changes in physical and biochemical measures among women. Methods: this study constitutes a behavior modification investigation involving a cohort of 35 female participants who sought consultation at a private nutrition counseling facility.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFOXM1, a proto-oncogenic transcription factor, plays a critical role in cancer development and treatment resistance in cancers, particularly in breast cancer. Thus, this study aimed to identify potential FOXM1 inhibitors through computational screening of drug databases, followed by in vitro validation of their inhibitory activity against breast cancer cells. In silico studies involved pharmacophore modeling using the FOXM1 inhibitor, FDI-6, followed by virtual screening of DrugBank and Selleckchem databases.

While the synthetic immunomodulators have proven efficacy, they are coupled with toxicity and other adverse effects, and hence, the efforts were to identify natural phytochemicals with immunomodulatory potential.
Objective: To understand the immunomodulatory properties of various phytochemicals and investigate them in species extracts using an approach.
Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer causing high mortality rates among women worldwide. This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of (terebinth) resin extract (TRE) on the MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line. In the study, the cytotoxic dose of the resin extract in MDA-MB-231 cells was evaluated by MTS analysis.

Wheat, a staple crop in the developing world, is crucial for addressing this issue through biofortification efforts. While extensive research has explored various approaches to enhance Fe and Zn content in wheat, there remains a scarcity of comprehensive data on their bioavailability and impact on human and animal health.

In the present study, new Schiff bases derived from pentafluorophenyl-hydrazine (L1, L2, L3, L4) were synthesized and their structures were characterized by H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), C NMR, F NMR, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and elemental analysis methods. Then, the anticancer activities of the obtained compounds were investigated using three human cancer cell lines (A2780, over; Caco-2, colon; and HT-29 colon carcinoma cell lines). According to the obtained cytotoxicity results, compound number L4 was found to have the highest anticancer activity in A2780 (over) and Caco-2 (colon) cell lines.

Contemporary scientific findings revealed that our daily food stuffs are enriched by encrypted bioactive peptides (BPs), evolved by peptide linkage of amino acids or encrypted from the native protein structures. Remarkable to these BPs lies in their potential health benefiting biological activities to serve as nutraceuticals or a lead addition to the development of functional foods. The biological activities of BPs vary depending on the sequence as well as amino acid composition.

Crop wild relatives (CWRs), landraces and exotic germplasm are important sources of genetic variability, alien alleles, and useful crop traits that can help mitigate a plethora of abiotic and biotic stresses and crop yield reduction arising due to global climatic changes. In the pulse crop genus , the cultivated varieties have a narrow genetic base due to recurrent selections, genetic bottleneck and linkage drag. The collection and characterization of wild germplasm resources have offered new avenues for the genetic improvement and development of stress-tolerant, climate-resilient lentil varieties with sustainable yield gains to meet future food and nutritional requirements.

In these families, mothers are exposed to the stressors more often than other family members, because, in most families, they are the primary caregivers. In this study, we examined the relationship between maternal attachment styles, maternal depression and anxiety levels, and behavioral problems of children with visual impairment.
