The efficiency of cholesterol efflux from cells promoted by high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) depends on HDL concentration and functional properties. The term "dysfunctional HDL" describes HDLs with impaired protective properties. Cholesterol efflux capacity (CEC) of HDL is reduced in patients with atherosclerosis, but the exact mechanisms underlying this impairment are not well characterized.

Materials And Methods: The ANICHKOV study included 702 patients in Moscow and the Moscow region over 18 years old with a -chole-sterol level ≥7.5 mmol/l and/or LDL-C ≥4.
The aim of this work was to assess the relationship of rs2230806 SNP of ABCA1 with lipid profile in patients with severe dyslipidemia. The study included 363 patients (42.8% of males), the average age was 48.

All of them were given routine spa-and-resort therapy; 56 patients received pharmacotherapy, in the remaining 89 it was supplemented with ozone-therapy. The clinical examination included electrocardiography, veloergometry, echocardiography; kinetics of oxygen metabolism was evaluated by transcutaneous polarography, laser Doppler flowmetry, and computed capillaroscopy.

The spa and resort treatment of coronary heart disease was given to 106 patients (34 men and 72 women) aged from 45 to 69 years presenting with angina of effort It consisted of basic therapy in combination with a rational diet, remedial physical exercises, thalassotherapy, underwater shower massage, low-mineralized Chvizhense water. The patients were allocated to three groups depending on the type of prescribed baths for general health, viz. radon baths (group 1), iodine-bromine baths (group 2), and hydrogen sulfide baths (group 3).

The search for the solution of actual problem of lowering of residual risk of vascular complications is the aim of multiple current scientific studies conducted in medical practice of the world. The program Residual Vascular Risk Reduction Initiative (R3i) was called upon to join efforts of medical professionals and patients from different countries for solution of the global problem of residual risk of development of vascular complications.

It gives the results of studies of the primary prevention of atherosclerosis and the treatment of hyperlipidemias with lovastatin, pravastatin, and fluvastatin. Emphasis is laid on trial data on the efficacy, tolerability, and safety of simvastatin (zocor).

Material And Methods: Patients (n=50) with documented ischemic heart disease and hyperlipidemia were randomized to 10 or 20 mg/day of atorvastatin (Atoris, KRKA). Endothelial function and common carotid artery wall distensibility and stiffness were assessed at baseline and after 12 and 24 weeks of treatment.
Main aim of the clinical study FARVATER was comparison of effects of 10 and 20 mg/day of atorvastatin on levels of lipids, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP), fibrinogen (F), and structural-functional state of vascular wall in patients with documented and primary hyperlipidemia (HLP). Fifty patients (mean age 60.8 years) with documented ischemic heart disease and HLP were randomized to continuous administration of 10 and 20 mg/day atorvastatin for 24 weeks.
