Endotoxemia is a severe inflammation response induced by infection especially bacterial endotoxin translocation, which severely increases mortality in combination with acute colon injury. Bromodomain-containing protein 4 (BRD4) is an important Bromo and Extra-Terminal (BET) protein to participate in inflammatory responses. However, it is still unknown about the specific connection between BRD4 and inflammation-related pyroptosis in endotoxemia colon.

2,6-Dimethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone (2,6-DMBQ) is the major bioactive compound found in fermented wheat germ extract. Although fermented wheat germ extract has been reported to show anti-proliferative and anti-metabolic effects in various cancers, the anticancer potential and molecular mechanisms exerted by 2,6-DMBQ have not been investigated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. Here, we report that 2,6-DMBQ suppresses NSCLC cell growth and migration through inhibiting activation of AKT and p38 MAPK.

In this work, Au nanoparticle (AuNP) arrays on shape memory polyurethane (SMPU) substrates serve as flexible materials for tunable localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). AuNP arrays prepared by diblock copolymer self-assembly are transferred from rigid silicon wafers onto flexible SMPU substrates with ultrasonic treatment rather than peeling off directly. The resultant AuNP array SMPU films have excellent mechanical properties and stable thermodynamic properties.

Despite the remarkable progress in recent years, person Re-Identification (ReID) approaches frequently fail in cases where the semantic body parts are misaligned between the detected human boxes. To mitigate such cases, we propose a novel High-Order ReID (HOReID) framework that enables semantic pose alignment by aggregating the fine-grained part details of multilevel feature maps. The HOReID adopts a high-order mapping of multilevel feature similarities in order to emphasize the differences of the similarities between aligned and misaligned part pairs in two person images.

Background: Smoking status has been confirmed as an independent prognostic factor for bladder cancer. However, for patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), the influence of smoking status on the pathological response and prognosis remains unclear. This pooled analysis aimed to investigate whether smoking status is an independent risk factor for pathological response, recurrence, and prognosis in patients with bladder cancer who undergo NAC.

Background: Expression of Long non-coding RNA (LncRNA) small nucleolar RNA host gene 9 (SNHG9) is observed in some cancer types, while its role in prostate cancer (PCa) is unclear. We aimed to demonstrate the relationship between SNHG9 and PCa based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.
Methods: Kruskal-Wallis test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and logistic regression were used to evaluate relationships between clinical-pathologic features and SNHG9 expression.
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries featuring high-energy densities are identified as a hopeful energy storage system but are strongly impeded by shuttle effect and sluggish redox chemistry of sulfur cathodes. Herein, annealed melamine foam loaded 2H/1T MoS (CF@2H/1T MoS) is prepared as a multifunctional interlayer to inhibit the shuttle effect, improve redox kinetics, and reduce the charge-discharge polarization of Li-S batteries. The CF@2H/1T MoS becomes fragmented structures after assembling the cell, which not only benefits to adsorb and catalyze LiPSs but also to significantly buffer the volume expansion due to a large number of gaps between fragmented structures.

The paradigm-shifting immune checkpoint therapy can mitigate CD8 T lymphocyte exhaustion, reinvigorate the anticancer immunity, and achieve durable tumor regression for some patients. Emerging evidence indicates that CD4 T lymphocytes also have a critical role in anticancer immunity, either by directly applying cytotoxicity toward cancer cells or as a helper to augment CD8 T cell cytotoxicity.
