A narrow-band green emitting KTb(PO) phosphor has been synthesized by a novel single-crystal growth approach involving the application of an inert flux. Its structural and spectroscopic peculiarities have been systematically studied by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis, and diffuse reflectance, infrared and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The layered framework of the title compound is organized by linking together slightly distorted phosphate tetrahedra with non-condensed TbO polyhedra into [Tb(PO)] sheets interconnected by potassium cations.

The title compound dipotassium gadolinium(III) phosphate(V) molybdate(VI), KGd(PO)(MoO), was synthesized from a high-temperature melt starting from GdF as a source of gadolinium. Its structure is isotypic with other ( O)(PO) compounds, where = Na, K or Cs, and = rare-earth cation, = Mo or W. The three-dimensional framework is built up from [Gd(PO)(MoO)] anionic sheets, which are organized by adhesion of [GdPO] layers and [MoO] tetra-hedra stacked above and below these layers.

KEu(PO)(WO) has been prepared the high-temperature solution growth (HTSG) method using KWO-KPO molten salts as a self-flux and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, IR and luminescence spectroscopy. The structure of this new compound features a 2D framework containing [EuPO] layers, which are composed of zigzag chains of [EuO] interlinked by slightly distorted PO tetrahedra. Isolated WO tetrahedra are attached above and below these layers, leaving space for the K counter-cations.

Objective: The aim: to study and compare the features of the interleukins levels and morphological changes of placenta at various stages of preeclampsia.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: 109 pregnant women with preeclampsia of varying severity (study group) and 30 pregnant women with uncomplicated pregnancy (control group) were examined. Immunohistochemical method, proinflammatory interleukins levels, morphological and morphometric analysis of peripheral and central placental areas biopsies on the optical and electron-microscopic level have been used.

Based on data analysis concerning the character and the frequency of diseases as well as medication therapy costs, there has been developed a functional model of the provision of needs in costs on medication aid for elderly and advanced old people in patient care institutions. This model allows take into account age peculiarities of the patients (polymorbidity, disease severity, regional differences in the character of pathology).

Many-year observations, literary data were analyzed to work out indications for hospitalization and methods of transportation of patients with acute cerebrovascular disease to intensive care departments, neurosurgical or neurological department. The problem of non-differentiated and differentiated treatment at the prehospital and early hospital stage is discussed.

Strains of staphylococci, klebsiella, proteins, blue pus bacillus and enterobacteria resistant not only to antibiotics but also to chloramine, a disinfectant, were isolated from the test material samples obtained from patients with different purulent-inflammatory processes. The following strains are revealed among the test microorganisms: sensitive simultaneously to antibiotics and chloramine; sensitive to antibiotics but resistant to chloramine; sensitive to chloramine but resistant to antibiotics; simultaneously resistant both to antibiotics and chloramine.

By the methods of heat denaturation and luminescence the interaction between an antitumor drug prospidine and DNA in aqueous solutions at two ionic strengths (0.1 and 0.001 M NaCl) and at various prospidine concentrations was studied.

Anti-tumour antibiotic carminomycin interaction with chicken erythrocyte DNA is studied in aqueous-salt solutions by the laser polarized fluorescence method. Fluorescence quenches almost equally effectively during the antibiotic absorption on native (nDNA) and denatured (dDNA) DNAs, but the polarization degree of residual fluorescence differs about two times. Carminomycin binding to dDNA is characterized by one interaction type with a large density of occupancy sites - one antibiotic molecule per base pair.

The gastrointestinal tract status (GIT) was evaluated in 23 reactive arthritis (RA) patients: in 17 after intestinal infection, in 2 after urogenital infection, and in 4 after mixed infection. All the examined were found to have signs of diffuse variously pronounced chronic inflammation of the small and large intestine, impaired barrier function of the stomach, liver disorders, and moderate-severe intestinal dysbacteriosis with developing transitory bacteraemia in most severe cases. The GIT changes were correlated with the severity of the RA course.

Five hundred and twenty seven strains of Staphylococcus aureus with massive contamination of at least 10(3) when estimated quantitatively were tested for their sensitivity to antibiotics and chloramine B. The staphylococcal strains were isolated from patients, air and stock of rooms in medical institutions, from medical personnel and healthy persons having no long-term contacts with hospital media i. e.

Under observation were 17 patients with typhoid peritonitis. The authors describe some specific features of the clinical course of this complication. The necessary method of treatment is thought to be an urgent operation with suturing the perforated ulcer and peritonization of all the ulcers found or a resection of the injured portion of the intestine, peritoneal dialysis, drainage of the thoracic lymph duct and intensive transfusion therapy in the postoperative period.
