Recent Findings: A total of 1850 studies were initially identified through a database search.
We used clinical metagenomic next-generation sequencing of cerebrospinal fluid to investigate bunyavirus infections in 2 immunocompromised patients in the United States who had fatal meningoencephalitis. Potosi virus has been isolated from mosquito vectors and Lone Star virus from tick vectors. These findings highlight the power of metagenomic next-generation sequencing in broad-based, agnostic detection of emerging viral infections that test negative using conventional targeted diagnostic methods.

The biosynthesis of the characteristic abyssomicin spirotetronate core occurs an enzyme-catalysed intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction, which proceeds one of two distinct stereochemical pathways to generate products differing in configuration at the C15 spirocentre. Using the purified spirotetronate cyclases AbyU (from abyssomicin C/atrop-abyssomicin C biosynthesis) and AbmU (from abyssomicin 2/neoabyssomicin biosynthesis), in combination with synthetic substrate analogues, here we show that stereoselectivity in the spirotetronate-forming [4 + 2]-cycloaddition is controlled by a combination of factors attributable to both the enzyme and substrate.

Here we leveraged a large set of samples from patients with MIS-C to identify a distinct set of host proteins targeted by patient autoantibodies including a particular autoreactive epitope within SNX8, a protein involved in regulating an antiviral pathway associated with MIS-C pathogenesis. In parallel, we also probed antibody responses from patients with MIS-C to the complete SARS-CoV-2 proteome and found enriched reactivity against a distinct domain of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein.

Purpose: To investigate safety and feasibility of performing water vapor thermal therapy (WVTT; Rezum, Boston Scientific, Marlborough, MA, USA) without postoperative catheterization among men with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Methods: This is a prospective, single arm, unblinded pilot study of 20 consecutive male patients ages 40-80 who underwent WVTT at a single academic institution. All patients underwent 1 injection per lobe at the point of maximal obstruction based on visualization.
