The aims of the present study were to: (i) quantify accelerations and decelerations of soccer players during match-play across two consecutive seasons from the English Premier League (EPL) and Ligue 1 (L1); and (ii) compare any positional differences between the two leagues. Fifty-eight male professional soccer players were monitored during all league matches (n = 144) across seasons 2020/21 and 2021/22. The absolute number of accelerations (> +3 m/s) and decelerations (< -3 m/s) and accelerations and decelerations per minute were examined.

The objective of this study was to determine the impact of an academic summer research, shadowing, and mentorship program on undergraduate students with interest in the fields of medicine and surgery.
Methods: We conducted a convergent mixed methods study on undergraduate students who participated in the Surgery Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program from 2017 to 2022, excluding the 2020 cohort as their experience was highly impacted by COVID-19.
Introduction: Recent quantitative data found that female surgical residents perform on average 37 fewer cases during their training than their male counterparts, which is equivalent to 1 to 3 months of operative experience. To further understand reasons for these observations, we performed focus groups among female general surgery residents.
Methods: Twenty- five participants from all PGY levels at 21 programs were recruited.
Introduction: The American Association of Endocrine Surgeons drafted Entrustable Professional Activities for Comprehensive Endocrine Surgery to assess trainees in core topics.
Methods: Fourteen Entrustable Professional Activities were defined. There were 10 "core" Entrustable Professional Activities, with 6 having 3 phases (pre-, intra-, and postoperative) and 4 having a single phase.
Introduction: Recent multi-institutional quantitative work has found that Black general surgery residents perform fewer operations during training. Further mixed-methods research exploring the reasons for this phenomenon is needed to address this inequity for residents who are underrepresented in medicine (URiM).
Material And Methods: Data were collected through open response and Likert scale questions that were distributed electronically to residents at 21 accredited US general surgery programs within the US Resident Operative Experience Consortium.
New training approaches have emerged advocating for the implementation of compensatory physical training. This approach aims to provide additional training that balances the load typically experienced by non-starters during a match. This may help maintain their readiness and ensures that their physical fitness is not compromised by the reduced exposure to match loads.

Despite its importance, there exist gaps in the nutrition knowledge among athletes, and emerging digital tools could potentially bridge this gap. The ULTRA-Q, a sports nutrition questionnaire adapted for ultra-endurance athletes, was used to assess the nutritional knowledge of ChatGPT-3.

This RCT aimed to evaluate the effect of an ambulatory CPRP on the 6-min walk test (6MWT) data (main outcome: 6-min walk distance (6MWD)) of LC19Ps. Conducted as a single-blinded RCT, the study included Tunisian LC19Ps with persistent dyspnoea (i.

Although mpox is not a pandemic (as of late September 2024), the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) experience offers valuable lessons for proactive planning in sports. Our conceptual framework has been designed to draw insightful lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic to assist sports organizations in planning for and preventing similar situations.

Various surgical subspecialties have evaluated trends in OPP; however, this has not been looked at among endocrine surgeons. Our objective was to describe OPP trends among members of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES).

Timely evaluation of their functional status and malignant potential is necessary to guide nonoperative surveillance or surgery. This study aims to evaluate the adherence of referring service patterns to the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists guidelines for the biochemical workup of AIs at a tertiary surgical clinic.

This study aimed to increase knowledge about how different recommended CAF doses (3 mg/kg vs. 6 mg/kg) ingested at different TODs affected maximal high-intensity physical performance and the perception of potential side effects in female athletes.

Background: Neuropsychiatric disorders frequently manifest in primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), yet evidence of parathyroidectomy's benefit remains mixed. We sought to compare the incidence of neuropsychiatric disorders among patients treated with parathyroidectomy versus nonoperative management.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed our institutional administrative database for patients with PHPT.
Objective: To examine case logs reported by general surgery residents and identify potential disparities in operative experience.
Background: A recent study of 21 institutions noted significant differences between the number of cases reported during general surgery residency by trainees who are underrepresented in medicine (URiM) versus trainees who are not URiM (non-URiM). This study also identified differences between female residents and male residents.
The aim of this study was to examine the possession (very low, low, high, and very high), team formation (3-5-2 and 4-3-3) and position (centre-backs, full-backs, centre midfielders, attacking midfielders, and centre forwards) on match load across two consecutive seasons in elite soccer. Twenty-seven English Premier League outfield players were recruited. Data was monitored through an 18 Hz Global Positioning System and a 25 Hz semi-automated camera tracking system, respectively, and all variables were analysed per minute.
