Septic arthritis (SA) in an adult native joint is a rare condition but a diagnostic emergency due to the morbidity and mortality and the functional risk related to structural damage. Current management varies and the recommendations available are dated. Treatment of methicillin-resistant (MR) staphylococcal prosthetic joint infections (PJIs) remains a matter of discussion, with vancomycin-rifampin combination therapy being the preferred treatment for DAIR and one-stage exchange arthroplasty strategies. This study analyzes the outcomes of patients with chronic methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative staphylococcal PJIs treated with vancomycin-minocycline combination therapy. This prospective, single center cohort study included all chronic MR coagulase-negative staphylococcal PJIs (01/2004-12/2014) treated with exchange arthroplasty and at least 4 weeks of minocycline-vancomycin.

We report the case of a 30-year-old woman with histologically proven monostotic fibrous dysplasia of C2 revealed by a pathological fracture of the odontoid process. Radiological investigations showed a ground-glass mineralization of the vertebral body, a centimetric lytic area with poorly defined margins involving the inferior part of the vertebral body and inferior endplate and a fracture through an osteolytic area in the base of the odontoid process. Owing to the vertebral instability, a surgical procedure combining C0-C5 fixation and posterior bone grafting was performed.

We describe two cases of chronic prosthetic hip infections, in an immunocompetent postmenopausal woman and a young immunocompromised woman. was also isolated from the genital tract, suggesting hematogenous spread of the bacterium. Introduction: Osteomalacia is associated with diffuse pain and multiple fractures and therefore, diagnosis and treatment of this condition are necessary. Clinicians should be aware of an uncommon mechanism of osteomalacia where hypophosphataemia is secondary to renal phosphaturia because of the production by a mesenchymal phosphaturic tumor of FGF-23. Introduction: Fabry disease is a lysosomal storage disorder linked to an alpha-galactosidase A deficiency that can lead to heart and kidney failure. There is little data about the prognosis of patients who undergo a combined heart and kidney transplantation.
