Lung cancer is one of the most prevalent human cancers with a high lethality rate worldwide. In this study, we demonstrated that GSE1 (genetic suppressor element 1) expression is aberrantly upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma and that GSE1 depletion inhibits the proliferation and migration of both A549 and H1299 cells. Immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that GSE1 interacts with histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) and other BRAF-HDAC complex (BHC) components in cells.

NAFLD mainly includes simple hepatic steatosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), liver fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). An imbalance in hepatic iron homeostasis is usually associated with the progression of NAFLD and induces iron overload, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and lipid peroxide accumulation, which leads to ferroptosis.

Methods: The cancer genome atlas (TCGA) and the gene expression omnibus database (GEO) databases were used to analyze the expression of MFG-E8 in GC.
Introduction: We aimed to evaluated the effect of premixed insulin (Ins), premixed insulin combined with metformin (Ins+Met) or mulberry twig alkaloids(Ins+SZ-A) on blood glucose fluctuations in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) using continuous glucose monitors (CGM).
Methods: Thirty patients with T2DM and poor blood glucose control using drugs were evaluated for eligibility during the screening period. Subsequently, their original hypoglycemic drugs were discontinued during the lead-in period, and after receiving Ins intensive treatment for 2 weeks, they were randomly assigned to receive either Ins, Ins+Met, or Ins+SZ-A treatment for the following 12 weeks.
Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is widely recognized as a major contributing factor to the development of heart failure in patients with diabetes. Previous studies have demonstrated the potential benefits of traditional herbal medicine for alleviating the symptoms of cardiomyopathy. We have chemically designed and synthesized a novel compound called aloe-emodin derivative (AED), which belongs to the aloe-emodin (AE) family of compounds.

Image reconstruction from limited and/or sparse data is known to be an ill-posed problem and a priori information/constraints have played an important role in solving the problem. Early constrained image reconstruction methods utilize image priors based on general image properties such as sparsity, low-rank structures, spatial support bound, etc. Recent deep learning-based reconstruction methods promise to produce even higher quality reconstructions by utilizing more specific image priors learned from training data.

Numerous studies have focussed on the changes in different lymphocyte subsets in diseases and immunosenescence. The change in immune phenotype is a key indication of the diseased or healthy status.

Methods: Special imaging sequences combining fast trajectories and sparse sampling were used to obtain whole-brain maps of both neurometabolites (2.0 × 3.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of liver cancer. Due to the insidious onset of HCC, early diagnosis is relatively difficult. HCC also exhibit strong resistance to first-line therapeutic drugs.

Long noncoding RNAs (LncRNAs) have been implicated in atherogenesis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential mechanism of lncRNA AI662270 on macrophage cholesterol transport in atherosclerosis.

Background: Neurometabolite concentrations provide a direct index of infarction progression in stroke. However, their relationship with stroke onset time remains unclear.
Purpose: To assess the temporal dynamics of N-acetylaspartate (NAA), creatine, choline, and lactate and estimate their value in predicting early (<6 hours) vs.
Targeting mitochondria via nano platform emerged as an attractive anti-tumor pathway due to the central regulation role in cellar apoptosis and drug resistance. Here, a mitochondria-targeting nanoparticle (TOS-PDA-PEG-TPP) was designed to precisely deliver polydopamine (PDA) as the photothermal agent and alpha-tocopherol succinate (α-TOS) as the chemotherapeutic drug to the mitochondria of the tumor cells, which inhibits the tumor growth through chemo- and photothermal- synergistic therapies. TOS-PDA-PEG-TPP was constructed by coating PDA on the surface of TOS NPs self-assembled by α-TOS, followed by grafting PEG and triphenylphosphonium (TPP) on their surface to prolong the blood circulation time and target delivery of TOS and PDA to the mitochondria of tumor cells.

Heart aging is characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy and diastolic dysfunction, which in turn induces a variety of cardiovascular diseases. There is still no therapeutic drug to ameliorate cardiac abnormities in heart aging. In this study we investigated the protective effects of berberine (BBR) and its derivative tetrahydroberberrubine (THBru) against heart aging process.

Ample evidence has established a pivotal role for significantly reduced mitophagy in the ageing heart. However, the underlying mechanisms of mitophagy deficiency in ageing heart are little known.

Empagliflozin, a sodium-dependent glucose transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, is an effective hypoglycemic drug; however, the effects of empagliflozin on hepatic gluconeogenesis and glycogenesis are still unclear. In this study, we investigated the effects and mechanisms of empagliflozin on hepatic gluconeogenesis and glycogenesis and .

In previous studies, the potential impact of sodium glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2), whose inhibitors slow the progression of DR, has not been elucidated. The purpose of the presented study was to explore the effect of SGLT-2 inhibitors dapagliflozin (DAPA) on apoptosis of diabetic mice retina and human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (HRMECs), examine the effects of dapagliflozin on HRMECs metabolism, and explore the molecular processes that affect DR.

Aluminum salt (Alum) is one of the most important immune adjuvants approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in humans because of its safety and efficacy, but it lacks the capacity to induce strong cellular and mucosal immune responses. In this study, we designed an antigen delivery system that combines aluminum salts with β-glucan particles.

The regeneration process mainly uses the strong oxidation of acidic regenerant above boiling point to regenerate ACFFs in a confined space. With no demand for high temperature and high pressure, the regeneration process achieves a high efficiency regeneration and a remarkable enhancement of Cu(II) adsorptivity simultaneously for Cu(II)-adsorbed ACFFs.
