Lung cancer is one of the most prevalent human cancers with a high lethality rate worldwide. In this study, we demonstrated that GSE1 (genetic suppressor element 1) expression is aberrantly upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma and that GSE1 depletion inhibits the proliferation and migration of both A549 and H1299 cells. Immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that GSE1 interacts with histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) and other BRAF-HDAC complex (BHC) components in cells.

With aging and the increasing incidence of obesity, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the most common chronic liver disease worldwide. NAFLD mainly includes simple hepatic steatosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), liver fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). An imbalance in hepatic iron homeostasis is usually associated with the progression of NAFLD and induces iron overload, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and lipid peroxide accumulation, which leads to ferroptosis.

Image reconstruction from limited and/or sparse data is known to be an ill-posed problem and a priori information/constraints have played an important role in solving the problem. Early constrained image reconstruction methods utilize image priors based on general image properties such as sparsity, low-rank structures, spatial support bound, etc. Recent deep learning-based reconstruction methods promise to produce even higher quality reconstructions by utilizing more specific image priors learned from training data.

Targeting mitochondria via nano platform emerged as an attractive anti-tumor pathway due to the central regulation role in cellar apoptosis and drug resistance. Here, a mitochondria-targeting nanoparticle (TOS-PDA-PEG-TPP) was designed to precisely deliver polydopamine (PDA) as the photothermal agent and alpha-tocopherol succinate (α-TOS) as the chemotherapeutic drug to the mitochondria of the tumor cells, which inhibits the tumor growth through chemo- and photothermal- synergistic therapies. TOS-PDA-PEG-TPP was constructed by coating PDA on the surface of TOS NPs self-assembled by α-TOS, followed by grafting PEG and triphenylphosphonium (TPP) on their surface to prolong the blood circulation time and target delivery of TOS and PDA to the mitochondria of tumor cells.

It is known that the metabolic disorder caused by high glucose is one of pathogenesis in diabetic retinopathy (DR), the leading cause of blindness, due to the main pathological change of apoptosis of endothelial cells (ECs). In previous studies, the potential impact of sodium glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2), whose inhibitors slow the progression of DR, has not been elucidated. The purpose of the presented study was to explore the effect of SGLT-2 inhibitors dapagliflozin (DAPA) on apoptosis of diabetic mice retina and human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (HRMECs), examine the effects of dapagliflozin on HRMECs metabolism, and explore the molecular processes that affect DR.

The use of particulate adjuvants offers an interesting method for enhancing and modulating the immune responses elicited by vaccines. Aluminum salt (Alum) is one of the most important immune adjuvants approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in humans because of its safety and efficacy, but it lacks the capacity to induce strong cellular and mucosal immune responses. In this study, we designed an antigen delivery system that combines aluminum salts with β-glucan particles.

In this paper, a simple and efficient regeneration technology of low-temperature pickling regeneration process is proposed for Cu(II)-adsorbed activated carbon fiber felts (ACFFs). The regeneration process mainly uses the strong oxidation of acidic regenerant above boiling point to regenerate ACFFs in a confined space. With no demand for high temperature and high pressure, the regeneration process achieves a high efficiency regeneration and a remarkable enhancement of Cu(II) adsorptivity simultaneously for Cu(II)-adsorbed ACFFs.
