Objective: The trial was designed to evaluate the efficacy of prophylactic hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with cisplatin for patients with locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC).

Methods: Between March 2015 and November 2016, a phase II clinical trial was performed. Fifty consecutive patients with LAGC were randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental group (radical gastrectomy + HIPEC with cisplatin + adjuvant chemotherapy) and the control group (radical gastrectomy + adjuvant chemotherapy).

Sperm capacitation is regarded to be a process of redox regulation. Within the oxidative regulatory system, glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are important in the maintenance of the redox balance of reactive oxygen species (ROS). We identify 56 GST genes in the Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis genome, and categorize them into 13 classes, of which the largest is Mu.

Electroencephalography (EEG) is widely utilized for train driver state detection due to its high accuracy and low latency. However, existing methods for driver status detection rarely use the rich physiological information in EEG to improve detection performance. Moreover, there is currently a lack of EEG datasets for abnormal states of train drivers.

Sleep stage classification is an important step in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Despite the high classification performance of previous sleep stage classification work, some challenges remain unresolved: 1) How to effectively capture salient waves in sleep signals to improve sleep stage classification results. 2) How to capture salient waves affected by inter-subject variability.

Aflatoxin B (AFB) is one of the most common and harmful toxins in agricultural products, and the development of a sensitive, simple, and accurate detection method for AFB is crucial for ensuring continuous monitoring and safeguarding food safety. Herein, we describe a facile and effective electrochemical immunosensor for ultrasensitive detection of AFB. In this framework, a novel Fc-specific cysteine (Cys)-modified antibody was first fabricated by employing photoaffinity labeling technique, which enables antibodies to be directionally immobilized onto a bare gold electrode via Au-sulfhydryl interaction.

In this study, millet bran globulin (MBG) and Arabic gum (AG) conjugates were prepared through the Maillard reaction (MR) and applied to curcumin-loaded Pickering emulsions. The effect of MR on MBG-AG conjugates (MBG-AG con) was evaluated by the degree of grafting (DG), the absorbance of intermediate reactants, and the browning index. The emulsifying properties of MBG-AG con with different DGs were assessed using the emulsifying activity index (EAI) and emulsifying stability index (ESI).

GmABCI5 and GmABCI13 enhance Al tolerance through regulating the composition of root cell wall, and in this process, GmABCI5 and GmABCI13 may act in the form of a complex. Aluminum (Al) toxicity is a major factor limiting plant growth in acidic soils. ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters are involved in plant tolerance to various environmental stresses.

Aluminum (Al) toxicity severely restricts plant production in acidic soils. ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters participate in plant tolerance to various environmental stresses. However, ABC transporters implicated in soybean Al tolerance are still rare.

Affective brain-computer interface is an important part of realizing emotional human-computer interaction. However, existing objective individual differences among subjects significantly hinder the application of electroencephalography (EEG) emotion recognition. Existing methods still lack the complete extraction of subject-invariant representations for EEG and the ability to fuse valuable information from multiple subjects to facilitate the emotion recognition of the target subject.

Purpose: Dermoid excision combined with lamellar keratoplasty was one of the most common surgical techniques for corneal dermoid. Due to the huge shortage of corneal donors, small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) derived lenticules might be the novel and feasible corneal grafts instead of traditional corneal donors. Therefore, we tried to use FG boned multi-layer lenticules as grafts in the treatment of corneal dermoid.

Emotion recognition is an essential but challenging task in human-computer interaction systems due to the distinctive spatial structures and dynamic temporal dependencies associated with each emotion. However, current approaches fail to accurately capture the intricate effects of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals across different brain regions on emotion recognition. Therefore, this paper designs a transformer-based method, denoted by R2G-STLT, which relies on a spatial-temporal transformer encoder with regional to global hierarchical learning that learns the representative spatiotemporal features from the electrode level to the brain-region level.

Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were successfully synthesized from carbohydrate-rich residue of birch obtained following the lignin-first strategy. The optical and physicochemical properties of the CQDs were studied, along with their potential for photocatalytic pollutant degradation. By combining solvothermal and chemical oxidation methods, the product yield of CQDs from carbohydrate-rich residue reached 8.

Treatment with anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) therapy and chemotherapy prolongs the survival of patients with unresectable advanced or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) adenocarcinoma. The benefit from anti-PD-1 therapy is enriched in patients with programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) combined positive score (CPS)-positive or CPS-high tumors compared with patients with PD-L1 CPS-negative or CPS-low tumors. In this phase 1b/2 study, we evaluated the efficacy and safety of cadonilimab, a bispecific antibody targeting PD-1 and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4, plus chemotherapy as first-line treatment in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative unresectable advanced or metastatic gastric or GEJ adenocarcinoma.

Ciprofloxacin (CIP) poses a high risk of resistance development in water environments. Therefore, comprehensive effects and recovery strategies of CIP in anaerobic ammonia oxidation (anammox) process were systematically elucidated from consortia and pure strains perspectives. The anammox consortia was not significantly affected by the stress of 10 mg L CIP, while the higher concentration (20 mg L) of CIP caused a dramatic reduction in the nitrogen removal performance of anammox system.

Multi-modal signals have become essential data for emotion recognition since they can represent emotions more comprehensively. However, in real-world environments, it is often impossible to acquire complete data on multi-modal signals, and the problem of missing modalities causes severe performance degradation in emotion recognition. Therefore, this paper represents the first attempt to use a transformer-based architecture, aiming to fill the modality-incomplete data from partially observed data for multi-modal emotion recognition (MER).

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been successfully applied to motor imagery (MI)-based brain-computer interface (BCI). Nevertheless, single-scale CNN fail to extract abundant information over a wide spectrum from EEG signals, while typical multi-scale CNNs cannot effectively fuse information from different scales with concatenation-based methods. To overcome these challenges, we propose a new scheme equipped with attention-based dual-scale fusion convolutional neural network (ADFCNN), which jointly extracts and fuses EEG spectral and spatial information at different scales.

Drowsy driving has a crucial influence on driving safety, creating an urgent demand for driver drowsiness detection. Electroencephalogram (EEG) signal can accurately reflect the mental fatigue state and thus has been widely studied in drowsiness monitoring. However, the raw EEG data is inherently noisy and redundant, which is neglected by existing works that just use single-channel EEG data or full-head channel EEG data for model training, resulting in limited performance of driver drowsiness detection.

Sleep stage classification is essential for sleep assessment and disease diagnosis. Although previous attempts to classify sleep stages have achieved high classification performance, several challenges remain open: 1) How to effectively utilize time-varying spatial and temporal features from multi-channel brain signals remains challenging. Prior works have not been able to fully utilize the spatial topological information among brain regions.
