To gain a deeper understanding of the sequential multistep excited-state structural evolutions of N,N'-diphenyl-dihydrodibenzo[a,c]phenazine (DPAC) luminophores, we strategically freeze distinct conformations by crystallization, allowing to capture the progressive conformational transformations within a DPAC-based framework by utilizing single-crystal X-ray diffractometry. Our focus lies in the innovative modification of DPAC via the synthesis of cyano (CN)-substituted derivatives DPAC-nCN (n=1-4, with n indicating the number of CN groups). The incorporation of electron-withdrawing CN groups modulates electron delocalization and lowers energy barriers, facilitating access to conformational polymorphism within the crystals.

Articular cartilage, composed of chondrocytes within a dynamic viscoelastic matrix, has limited self-repair capacity, posing a significant challenge for regeneration. Constructing high-fidelity cartilage organoids through three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting to replicate the structure and physiological functions of cartilage is crucial for regenerative medicine, drug screening, and disease modeling. However, commonly used matrix bioinks lack reversible cross-linking and precise controllability, hindering dynamic cellular regulation.

Herein, we present a paradigm of a flexible molecular system for simultaneous discernment of Ni and Cd, depending on distinct chemical coordination manners. By incorporating two functional pyridine groups at different positions on the flexible DPAC framework (9,14-diphenyl-9,14-Dihydrodibenzo [a,c]phenazine), two derivatives are prepared as 27Py-DPAC and 36Py-DPAC. The results show that 27Py-DPAC can chemically coordinate with Ni (intermolecular coordination) and Cd (intramolecular coordination), generating fluorescence turn-off and -on behaviors, respectively.

Vibration induced damage to the peripheral circulatory system is thought to be an early stage of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) caused by occupational exposure to hand-transmitted vibration (HTV). This study investigated the mechanisms underlying vibration-induced vascular injury, focusing on the role of Piezo1, a mechanosensitive channel, and its association with the NF-κB/p65 signaling pathway. We demonstrated that vibration exposure leads to Piezo1-mediated upregulation of angiogenic chemokines, including CCL2, CCL5, CXCL1, CXCL2, and CXCL10, through the NF-κB/p65 pathway.

The application and further industrialization of magnesium hydride (MgH) are restricted by its intrinsically high de-hydrogenation temperature and dragged kinetics though it is believed as one of the most encouraging solid-state hydrogen storage materials with considerable capacity. Herein, a bimetallic layered MXene VNbC, which was mixed with MgH by high energy ball milling, was obtained by etching compact layered MAX VNbAlC with HF. The beginning de-hydrogenation temperature of the as-prepared MgH blended with 10 wt% VNbC (denoted as MgH-10 VNbC) composites was excitingly 170 °C and it exhibited faster kinetics and excellent cycling stability.

Delayed tooth extraction socket (TES) healing can cause failure of subsequent oral implantation and increase socioeconomic burden on patients. Excessive amounts of M1 macrophages, apoptotic neutrophils (ANs), and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) impair alveolar bone regeneration during TES healing. In the present study, we first discovered that conditioned medium (CM) collected from berberine-treated human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BBR-HB-CM) accelerated TES healing.

Acute fish toxicity (AFT) tests are performed in aquatic risk assessments of chemical compounds globally. However, the specific endpoint of in vivo AFT is based on the lethal concentration 50 (LC), which is a serious challenge in terms of animal welfare. To support the 3Rs principle of replacing, reducing, and refining use of animals, integrated testing strategies (ITS) have recently been developed for environmental risk assessment.

Objective: The limited ability to regenerate axons after spinal cord injury (SCI) is influenced by factors such as astrocyte activation, reactive proliferation, and glial scar formation. The TGF-β/Smad (transforming growth factor-β/mothers against decapentaplegic homolog) pathway, associated with astrocytic scarring, plays a crucial role in recovery post-injury. This study aims to investigate how icariin (ICA) interacts with reactive astrocytes in the treatment of spinal cord injury.

Lactylation, a newly identified post-translational modification, is uncertain in its implication in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). In this study, we analyzed 60 TNBC samples using immunohistochemical staining and revealed elevated levels of pan-lactylated proteins and specific histone H4K12 lactylation in tumor tissues, correlating with TNBC progression. Lactate exposure in TNBC cell lines significantly induced lysine lactylation at the H4K12 site, leading to alterations in gene profiles and reduced apoptosis.

Organic radicals exhibit great potential in photothermal applications, however, their innate high reactivity with oxygen renders the preparation of stable organic radicals highly challenging. In this work, a series of co-doped radical polymers ares prepared by doping dihydrophenazine derivatives (DPPs) into the epoxy resin matrix. DPPs can form radical species through the electron transfer process, which are further stabilized by the complex 3D network structure of epoxy resin.
